Scotland 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Manual Zambezi SilverDiscovery 3

Hi everyone, I bought a 2005 SE 2.7 Manual a week ago. Luckily it’s in very good condition but needs a few wee jobs doing. I have already found lots of helpful information on here so thanks to all that contribute!

Australia 2010 Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 SE Auto Zermatt SilverDiscovery 4

Hi all.
I've had a '96 Disco 1 TD4 for 15 years now and have just upgraded to a 2010 D4 SE with the 3L engine. I bought it from interstate, so it won't get here for another week or so, so I have a bit of time to research fixes for some (hopefully) minor issues.
From the pictures I saw and what my friend who checked it out for me said, it looks to be in really good condition inside and out. The only obvious internal issue is that part of the roof lining is sagging. Other than that, the engine developed a tick. It sounds like its on the driver's side bank, up high and towards the back. It doesn't pick up on a phone sound recording, so I have to wait until it gets here to go over it with a stethoscope to get a better idea before I pull bits off.
I found this site when researching the D4 gearbox issues, while looking at a different D4, and look forward to seeing what you all think the issue may be.

Greg.

Hello,
I live in Tallinn, Estonia.
Just yesterday, I bought a 2011 D4 sdv6 with a seized engine to rebuild it during a long autumn evening. I have a small garage and plan to do everything besides machinery on my own. I hope that I will be able to do that and we will have long beautiful trips with this disco))

Hi

I'm John and bought my 2016 Disco4 Landmark a year ago - 1 previous owner, only 34k on the clock and looking brand new - love it.

I did discover that Land Rover had never connected the passenger puddle light as I went to upgrade them to LED and there was no cable there! Luckily it had a Land Rover Warrenty and the dealer fixed it - had to remove the door panel, find the cable and poke it through.

By biggest complaint is the lack of blind-spot mirrors - if the original owner had not specified the radar blind spot option it cannot be retro-fitted and there is no glass option. ☹️

Agree on blind spot monitoring ( which also has cross traffic warning for when reversing out). It's the only extra I specified on my HSE and wouldn't be without it.
Welcome. 34k miles sounds like a good purchase. Plenty of experience of these later ones on this forum.

Thanks Gary - looks like I bought my D4 from the same dealer you did - Sytner Land Rover - I had to drive to Kent to get it, but, with such a low mileage, I could not get it go.

If I had bought it new I would have specified the blind-spot option - as well as the locking rear diff and wade sensing - but, unfortunately, not on mine.

I have been spending money with PowerfulUK and have changed the rear fog lights and reversing lights with the LED option (much better and brighter), as well as sealed LED front fog lights, number plate lights, puddle lights and internal lights are now all LED. Also I had the underside Lanoguarded - I want to keep this car a long time and will look after it.

Actually mine was from Barretts in Canterbury.
It has wade sending as standard. ( Not that I've ever used it).

Interested about where you had the lanoguard done. Do you redo it every year as they state?

I had it done professionally by a specialist in Oxfordshire - I wanted it done professionally as I wanted to make sure it was done properly and that they would not miss any of the internal box sections.

They told me that 18-months to 2-years was OK as it's still working very well after a year - so I will be taking it in for the re-do at a little under 2-years - he charges about half price for the re-do. But I want it done properly.
