Only option is to get it/them replaced unfortunately.
As stated, from 2007 (Euro 4 engine) you cannot just blank them as the car sees this as a fault.

he told me both egr valves are broken and the costs are 1100 euro ex vat,
i went to visid a friend in germany this weekend around 600 miles to go and 600 back i had no problems at all .

He's an idiot Go to a different dealer.
From your VIN number, you will have a Euro 4 engine. Does not really change your options as you cannot blank them. You could prove it by blanking and you will end up with the car giving you all sort of errors.
I would say your only option is to get them repaired.
Ian.

If you keep driving and the car is ok, you could leave it as is but I would be worried that it would eventually fail.
I assume from what you are saying you do not have any warning lights on the dash If this is the case, I would guess that the valves are stuck open to some degree thus making the management system think its ok.
That still goes not make total sense as the drive motor had electrical feedback so should still know something is wrong. All depends what has failed.
What make you do to the dealers is the first place to get told they were faulty

Forgot to say about price.
I have seen £90 up to £120 each. Not had to buy them so do not have an exact figure.
You could check with TLO (The Large One) on this site for prices

Hi guys, new member here having been a guest for a while. Watching this thread with interest as have same problem on my 07 D3.
Resigning myself to the fact that I'll have to fork out for 1 or 2 new EGR's as blanking seems not to be an option on the 07's onwards.
GREAT forum btw
Cheers,

Welcome PaulT
Lookin like it unless you have an extended warranty?
BellAutos are working on a solution to post 07MY's but not available yet.

Thanks StephenO
No extended warranty - I knew I needed one but just never got it sorted in time. Lesson learnt!
Would love to wait for a post 07 blanking kit to be developed but think I'm better off biting the bullet and replacing EGR now. No real loss of performance but maybe its only a matter of time before things get worse.

Main dealer charged me £275 including VAT for one last week. It's 2 hours labour for 1st one and extra hour if doing both. ............
Nobody said it was going to be easy.
