The only thing I can think of that I've maybe done incorrectly is connect the red wire on port 2 of the FBH connector with a scotch clip rather than directly into the odb cable. Would that be causing the issue as it's still connected into the cars system?

Break the connection to the vehicle to prevent any unwanted control signal reaching the FBH. It's not required.

I used a crimp connector then I can swap at will between my BAS remote controller and the Webasto loom.

Spent two hours today trying to connect with no joy, just bit the bullet and bought a serial connector rather than the USB so hopefully may have better luck in the future, bloody thing...

Sounds like you have it connected up OK, but you have a driver or software issue on your computer.

Follow stage 2 here (ignore that it's for VW software)

http://www.gendan.co.uk/faq/409_win7.php

Then make sure you use the same COM port in ThermoTest.

For the D3, under "Device Selection", choose WBUS

Have you tried it?

I cannot say it WILL work, but you need to follow the steps to get it installed and configured OK.

There can be any number of issues which could prevent it connecting even if the set up and wiring is OK.

But if you know the wiring and config is completely right then you can start to look elsewhere.

In the toolbar at the top, there is an icon called "park heating".

If it is not running by itself you will need to look at and review the faults first though.

Can you please provide some feedback about what made the connection work?
