Webasto Thermo Top V EVO from 2011 Range Rover Sport |
|
Guys
I am hoping to test run my heater in the garage, reading the whole of this thread it seems I should be able to when using my laptop with Webasto's software running and the correct connections.
Question 1 does anyone have a redundant/spare set of connectors with wiring please? I'm happy to pay.
Question 2 after testing and assuming there are no faults or any fault is corrected is there a way I can run it out of the car without a laptop? Again I am very happy to pay for the equipment.
From this thread I guess I am looking for someone like Martin, IanNP, Flack or I'm sure there are others with the expertise. Can anyone point me to a member who does this work commercially please?
Looking forward to hear from you.

I have connectors - the 8 pin and terminals are on the shop and I can get the power and fuel pump connectors if you need: www.disco3.co.uk/shop
I can also build a test and/or installation loom.
Do you have the fuel pump with it?
Once tested with the Webasto software you will need a WBUS controller for it, either a Webasto 1533 Oval timer, or an aftermarket alternative like the BAS controller, Danhag, or a home-made controller like here: http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic106191.html 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Many thanks for your prompt response. I have all the plugs plus the fuel pump thank you. I have read the thread several times with interest, it seems 3 or so people have been working on a controller and several others are waiting for a working one.
I am trying to establish if my FBH will work without a vehicles ecu, it seems it will by using the W-BUS. I now need to work through the 2/3 solutions discussed and see if I can put one together. discostick's solution to limit the heater by water temperature not time seems best for use.
I see you can offer a wiring loom, I take it to mean not a controller?
Regards

Hi Ray,
You asked this:
Ray2409 wrote:does anyone have a redundant/spare set of connectors with wiring please? I'm happy to pay.
But you now have connectors? I was offering to supply connectors (bare) or with a wiring loom as required.
Slightly different model I know but I have had a TTV (non Evo) running independently of a vehicle using the ThermoTest software to fire it up.

Many thanks for your offer. In the meantime I read further threads and learnt I needed an ODB2 connector which is ordered and may be here tomorrow. I will then have everything to connect it to my laptop, lets see if I can get it to run.
I will post the results and get in touch again if I need anything you may be able to supply.

Have now taken delivery of the connector and have installed it's drivers. It is detected on port 2 so I have set Webasto's programme to port 2.
I connected it up to the FBH as described very well elsewhere but there was no communication between the two.
I have a couple of basic questions please, I take it that as I am using Webasto' programme I do not need a VAG KKL (the ODB2 supplier) programme also?
Also it could require the USB connection, FBH connection and running Webasto's programme to be carried out in a certain order.
If I can clear these up I can then concentrate on other reasons for the programme not displaying results.
Any help appreciated.

Webasto Thermo Top VEVO pin numbers |
|
Having failed to have WTT communicate with n=my FBH I have looked at the wiring diagram again and wonder if it is because the Thermo Top VEVO is different to others?
I notice that pin 2 is an optional connection for a summer/winter switch and pin1 is connected to the digital timer. The connection is labelled Main Switch. Is this different to the wiring diagram you used please? Do I need to make changes?
Thanks for any help.

Thermo Top VEVO pin numbers |

Further to my last post I am quoting the pin numbers from Webastos Thermo Top V Workshop Manual which I have as pdf.
I would post the wiring diagram on here if I knew how to add attachments, or I will certainly email it to anybody who wants it.

Ray, are you powering the FBH and the OBD adapter from a 12V battery whilst trying to communicate with it?
As far as I know, the ThermoTop V EVo (Vevo) is the same connector and pinout as the TT-V used on the D3.
So pin 2 is the WBUS/communication/diagnostic line, as per the wiki: www.disco3.co.uk/fbh 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Thanks for the information, I did send it and wondered if it did not reach you due to it's size so sent you a short email 2 days ago. If you have not got that then I must have something wrong.
I note I can not use the email button provided on forum pages???
Please email me at <snip> and I should be able to reply to it.
In the meantime I have been thinking and wonder if I have identified a difference with some FBh 8 pin plugs?
The pins on mine are numbered 1 2 3 4
5 6 7 8
But I believe some are numbered 1 3 5 7
2 4 6 8
If that is the case I may be connecting the ODB2 to the wrong W-BUS pin?
Look forward to hearing from you.
