Thank you for your answers, guys!
Today I tryed to start FBH with my computer using Webasto Thermo Test and I had same problem:
FBH started, from the exhaust pipe started to come out a little smoke and warm air, and after a minute it stopped (first "Flame detector cooling", then "Burn out", "Cooling" and "Off state"). Same error "02" was recorded.
Before that try I have tested fuel pump - at 7 Hz, for 900 sec. it delivered 210-220 ml. what is accordingly Workshop Manual (40 ml for 180 sec.). Am I right?
I have tested the glow before, when I cleaned FBH inside - I have pluged it to 12 V for 5 sec. and it become red.
When I do this tests must the outside termerature be lower than 5 degrees ot not?
It should run from the software regardless of outside temp as you are overriding this with the software...Can you get hold of any diesel easy start or either and when its trying to run up give it a quick squirt and see if it increases in speed when you do it, I have got a few runing this way that would not run up fully..

After reading this post I decided to try out my FBH. Followed all instructions for wiring up OBD cable hmmmm.... no communication with diagnostic device, failed to wake up etc.... Checked all wiring numerous times, still failed to communicate.... After having a sulk for an hour (couple of wino’s) Tried again but instead of battery ground to pin #5 on OBD scanner tried #4 (signal ground) woohoo found device and all tests completed with no probs, no faults either to clear Just in case anyone else had acquired one of these OBD scanners of fleabay and it can't communicate.

At least you got there in the end. I knew mine worked because the temperature was below 5 and it came on. So I bought a webasto timer so I could control it manualy. Disconnected from the cars canbus because it turned off once car was woken so it stopped me from unlocking car then switching on manualy. I've got it working how I want it now. I can activate it instant or set it via timer.

Webasto Thermo Top Vevo Error message
Hi,
This is my first post here.
It seems I have the same problem as Alex below but I couldn't see anyone answered him. I Googled the message to no avail.
I can connect to the Webasto Thermo Top Vevo with the W-Bus using an eBay USB OBD (beware pin 5 was not connected in my OBD adapter so had to use pin 4 (signal GND vs Vehicle GND).
In my "Control" menu of Webasto Thermo Test software v2.14 "on", "EMC measurement mode", "ventilating", "boost mode" and "circulating pump external control" are greyed out.
When I click one of the four non -greyed out options "Parking Heating", "Parking Heating (EOL)", "Supplemental Heating" or "Supplemental Heating (EOL)" I get the "NAK: access denied!".
Please see attached screenshot.
Does anyone know what this relates to?
Thanks
Marek

Kindly please help me with something...
Versions of the ThermoTest program used: 1.19, 2.09, 2.11.
Commands tried: "Parking heating" and "Suplemental heating".
No mater which combinations of the above, I keep geting the error: "NAK, access denied!".
FBH is working properly, no errors stored.
I can interogate the errors and erase them.
I can make individual tests: light the glow plug, start the combustion fan, start the recirculating pump, etc.
I can spy the values when the engine is on and the FBH is driven by the car's ECUs.
But I can't start the FBH in an independent way...
Could be because I don't have the "remote heating start" option activated in the CCF of the car?
Could it be because the car is not in sleep mode and the CAN wires are still connected? I didn't wait inside the car, locked-up, the required 10-30 minutes for the car to enter sleep mode...
By the way, it is a FL2, not a D3/D4, but I believe that the Webasto hardware is the same.
Please, you guys who already know you're ways around FBHs - Ian, Wiggs -, give me a hint...

Marek, many users have previously reported a whole variety of connection issues when attempting to connect using a USB cable. Most users have reported better success using a serial port cable.
I don't know if that is your particular problem but may be a good starting point. Mods:

I was tearing my hair out trying to get the Webasto software to connect with the FBH. It was just sitting there at the "Initialising WTT" window no matter what I tried. Then I tried pin 4 for ground as suggested by jelly and hey presto. Communications commenced and, like Paul Daniels, I found myself cloaked in smoke.
Things I got wrong along the way:
1/ I used the simple loom (with the CAN bus still connected) but failed to let the car go to sleep (this was because I was powering the OBDII from a 12V socked in the car. That wont work...
2/ I had a door open (this is because I was powering the OBDII from a 12V socked in the car...)
3/ I suspect my battery voltage dropped too low on doing all this - a check with my CTEK comfort thingy showed a red LED
4/ I failed to install the drivers for my new ODBII USB cable so although I saw some COM ports showing up, they weren't the right ones
5/ I tried pin 5 for ground but in my case it was pin 4 that was required
Apart from that I think I got it pretty much right. Oh and thanks jelly
I seemed to have a lot of smoke in the engine compartment rather than under the car. Perhaps just the way the wind was blowing but I wonder if I have a dodgy connection or a hole in my exhaust...?2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Just thought I'd prime and test the FBH given the alleged cold weather next week.
Can't beat the sight/smell of all that smoke.
