Turn the hook so the "point" is facing up to you and dip it down slightly to get behind the clip and then pull ... you will feel / hear it catch the clip.
Both side need to be done to get the air bag out completely so that you can get at the "feet" of the blank panel.
I think I mentioned it before but make sure your ignition is off and it's also worth removing the horn fuse so as not to annoy the neighbours ... also avoids brown pants if you are a bit nervous ! Something that doesn't drink diesel and doesn't cost a bloody fortune everytime it needs serviced / fixed. But hey ....I got a deal from the leasing company on my D3 that you guys can only dream about !

Hi all, just fitted buttons, fairly easy install, but strangely I can reduce volume and go down a track/station, but can't increase volume or go up a track. Mode seems to work OK. Any clues? One detail is that I fitted the buttons that include the phone pickup - not sure if that makes a difference. Any help greatly appreciated.

Think someone had a similar problem .... I know it's a pain but probably worth getting the airbag out again and checking the little white connector is connected properly.
Do you have a background lights on it when you switch on your sidelights etc ?? (you should). Something that doesn't drink diesel and doesn't cost a bloody fortune everytime it needs serviced / fixed. But hey ....I got a deal from the leasing company on my D3 that you guys can only dream about !

Hi Danstee,
The dealer keeps replacing under warranty.. Sometines the volume up works and sometimes it doesn't. Have replaced 3 times so far because of this problem.
Never did find out what caused it... What's the point.... it all comes out in the wash anyway!

Great instructions guys!
Just spent a nervous 30 mins installing the cruise and audio controls, half waiting for the airbag "bomb" to blow up in my face...even though the battery was disconnected...it was a sinch
Next I need to find someone in the Edinbugh area who can switch on the cruise control - can anyone help out here?
Cheers

Cheers guys, fitted the radio buttons this evening and all went well, took about 30 mins in total. Decided to disconnect battery to be on safe side
Can also confirm that radio does a scan rather than moving from preset to next preset.
Tempted now to consider cruise control
