Yes I did get them and they do fit. In fact the fit is so tight that to get them on initially I had to remove the little allen adjuster bolt that protrudes ever so slightly in to the groove, just to get them on! Once past the allen bolt they work perfectly and are highly recommended.
I think www.roofbox.co.uk charged me about £12.00, inc delivery.

I posted this to chesters:
Quote:The option I have gone for is to buy a standard OEM Land Rover Cross Bar and a set of Thule T-Track (i.e. the groove under the rubber on the bars) roof box adapters no 697-1, from the roof box company.(www.roofbox.co.uk)
These work!
They arrived this week - they are just a screw thread out of a slightly curved rectangular base (that slides in the slot from the ends of the bars) with a metal and plastic knob that you adjust from inside of the box. You just have to remove the regular innards from inside the roof box to provide a suitable hole or groove for the thread to pass through from underneath.
They are an exact fit for the groove in the original bars - and I mean exact, even the little allen bolt inside the track that protrudes just a tiny amount has to be removed on mine to slide them in (although with use there will be enough give just to slide them down with the allen bolt in-place).
Including VAT and delivery £12.50. (the bars cost me £110 plus £10 delivery, brand new)
I'm vey happy, with a nice clean fit of my roof box with no visable fixing, less space taken-up inside the box with all the regular fixing and clamps, and no scratches to my roof bars.
Regards,
Rob

I had the Hopkirk (Mont Blanc) cross bars on my D2 (they clamp round the factory fit rails), and wanted something similar for the D3. I spoke to MB, and they do a kit for the D3, although it does look like its for the D3 without roofrails fitted.
Have a look at www.montblancuk.co.uk at the system 3000 range

Sorry to appear daft (too late!) - does this mean that you can fit the montblanc rails straight onto the car, without having the LR gutter rails attached?
It's appealing to me as I have the base model which does not come with rails fitted- it would save me the best part of £130 odd Discovery 3 tdv6 7 seat Buckingham Blue

I'm curious too - I went to the swedish site and it looks like the Flexikit 3 components (foot unit, fitting kit and bar) would work without the rails. I guess it's time for a call to the uk distributor to check a sale-or-return basis of supply.
I tried to take a screen shot, but it's come out as a pdf.

Thanks- just had a browse.
Looking at the fitting instructions (not at all easy to navigate on the site), and it seems that the foot uses the LR roof rails after all.
So it's not quite the cheapskate option I had hoped.

Well done for getting the full details - I think my browser was having problems with their code. Shame it wasn't a direct fit solution - I was looking forward to saving a few beer vouchers. Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

Guys
I'm still not clear about whether the Montblanc kit uses the rails or not. To me, it looked like it didnt (although the fitting instructions wernt very clear).
Does anyone have a difinative answer.

The foot fitting guide (page 2) seems pretty clear that they fit to the rail rather than directly to the roof - see my previous posting for the link.
I'd be happy if you found out otherwise though! Discovery 3 tdv6 7 seat Buckingham Blue

KL - I did look at that PDF previously (and again via your link), and I'm not sure what is saying. Is that strip thing something that fits in the rails. From the main fitting instructions (not that aditional kit instructions), it looks like it uses the bolt fittings that are there as standard an all D3's under the trim (the same ones that the LR rails use).
So....I've just phoned Montblanc, and they say their kit IS for the D3 WITHOUT roof rails.
hope this helps.

Marvellous. This means that I can just buy the cross rails & feet from Montblanc, and much cheaper than the ~£250 combined cost of OEM LR rails and cross bars.
Mind you - this is assuming Montblanc are reasonably priced...
Any idea?
It would also mean that the roof trim would have to be permanently chopped / removed entirely. Discovery 3 tdv6 7 seat Buckingham Blue

Sorry - cant help with costs, although my Hopkirk bars were only £39.95 for the D2. Dont know about cutting trim for the MB bars.

Found Mont Blanc here http://www.roof-rack-supplies.co.uk/cgi-bi..._racks.cgi for £94.97. Sounds like a good cheap option for the annual trip to France with the bikes on the roof!
It appears that you have to cut the roof strip to fit them. I'd be interested how much a replacement strip is as I wouldn't want them on the car all of the time.
I wish the roof rack manufacturers would get their act together. I have spent a fortune over the years on products on the assurance that I would only need new feet for each vehicle. Sadly it has never been true. TDV6 SE - Buckingham Blue with Alpaca

That was my thinking too, and even though Hopkirk and Montblanc are the same company, I cant use the crossbars I already have with new feet for the Disco 3 (and I'm stuffed anyway as I had the roof rails fitted)

You can either cut the roof strip, or just take it off completely while you have the bars on (then re-fit when you take them off again) Discovery 3 tdv6 7 seat Buckingham Blue
