Rear Wiper Sticking

Hi all ,when using rear wiper I find it sticks halfway through its cycle occasionally or sticks altogether or operates normally ,has anyone encountered this one before or can point me in the right direction before I start ripping apart the rear tailgate any advice would be much appreciated. Smile

I can answer that one for you .. the wiper motor is giving up I had exactly the same thing, it sticks half way then suddenly it starts working again for a bit then sticks again. The motor is about to fail but thankfully it's not a hugely expensive fix Smile

Check to make sure the wiper arm pivot point isn't seized. A modified wiper arm prevents this occuring.

Does it happen when you operate anything else round the rear end, like braking, indicating, putting heated rear window on? I once had a loose earth connection behind the passenger side rear light which caused all sorts of mayhem including a tempremental rear wiper.

Is this a new part? Or is it self 'modified'?!

Does this mean just the arm can be replaced, instead of the whole motor? Or does it come as part of a new motor?

Phew.... I'm worn out from asking so many questions!

There is a TSB for this (LA501-027) which should list the steps. ( I do not have it...).

Thanks - I can see it, but can't access it without a subscription.

I'll try some WD40 and see if that helps first.

Also, apologies to zerty1972 for hijacking your post... Whistle

OK - so where does the WD40 go???!!!

Can I get to it from outside? Or is it a case of taking the trim off the inside of the top half of the tailgate?

Thanks

The bulletin give a part number for a new rear wiper arm (available separately from the motor). The part number has changed since the bulletin came out so it could be worth getting hold of the most current wiper arm and seeing how that goes.

Okay everyone had a look at the wiper when I got home ,popped the interior trim off ,slackened off the screws on the wiper arm cover ,quick spray of the magic juice gave a try of the rear wiper still no success.Next I looked at the motor part of the rear wiper ,removed the housing cover and found the problem one of the brushes had dislodged itself. Anyhow little bit fiddly but managed to pop the brush back in .Tried the rear wiper ....complete success Very Happy Very Happy
