How do you damage a D-Pillar? |
|
....mine now has a big dent in it.
It hasn't been hit from the front or the back but appears to have been clouted from about 45 degrees from the. back. Paint appears unbroken but scuffed over a height of about 12 inches. No visible damage to quarter window, tail gate or light cluster or roof. Dent is about an inch deep and the size of your hand.
Very annoyed, as the vehicle was parked on its own in a quiet sports centre carpark this morning for only 45 minutes. end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......

Were there an contractors vehicles around as it sounds like the right sort of damage for a flatbed with dropsides to have caused I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

no CCTV of course, and no one owned up.........I assume as it a heavily shaped panel it is going to cost an arm and a leg to fix. end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......

not when I left it or picked it up..........damage probaby a bit high for that as it is above the light cluster........however ladder or something on roofrack of estate car or small van would be about the right height.......there is no way who ever did it cannot have noticed it.
I assume it set the alarm of but as the alarm is inaudible if the wind is ruffling the bushes that probably wouldn't have made much difference. end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......

That dint will be able to be pulled out with a pin welder and a slide hammer
If you replace the whole panel you'll end up with more filler at the joints where you joggle it in

into the bodyshop today....hopefully it can be pulled out, not sure what they do about the paint. It has split by the quarterwindow, but otherwise just badly scuffed.
Hadn't realised but that panel appears to run all the way to the top of the windscreen end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......

If you wanted to get a D3 written off, get the D-pillars creased on both sides and you're pretty much there Sounds like yours is a "softer" dent and will pull out though I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

If you have to replace both d-pillars the amount of work involved puts the costs into £0000s I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
