Economic Driving

I like to drive as economically as possible, in my previous car (vw sharan) I would keep the speed down to about 60-65 (not as good as the recommended 50 odd)

I would get into the highest gear possible as quickly as possible and would try to keep as low a revs as possible -

Do the same rules apply - or is the normal operating range differnet in a Disco3 - I read somewhere that the engine was most efficient between 2000 and 3000 rpm

So what tips for economical driving do people have

Thanks
