One further tip...
For other newbies (like me) who struggle to find the front diff drain plug - it is covered by the engine protection plate, 10 bolts (13mm) need removing and the steel plate dropped off to access. Don't know if all models have this plate. Also, if you turn the front wheels hard right, it gives you access to the filler plug throught the left wheel arch.

Nice guide, Thanks
Just topped up my rear diff and I used a syringe with a rubber tube attached to the nozzle to get the fluid in. Worked a treat and put a quarter of a litre in with no spills...
Got a little pic too

how do you know you've got the correct amount in your rear diff
ps its fill by quantity 1.1L in the rear and not by level
i think i would be draining it and filling with the correct amount

Any overfilling of fluids will cause excess heat to build up which can cause damage,to gears , clutches (if any) seals and bearings also may cause pressure to build up also can "burp up " into and possibly block the vents which could also cause more heat , proper levels are required for proper cooling, and lubrication

Thanks for your prompt response on my oil diff question; I'll definitely have a go at it soon.
Meanwhile, I did my first engine oil & filter change yesterday, following the instruction on this tread. Thanks to the brilliant notes by all the experts on the site.
Regards,
Mo

As the diff oil is relatively cheap and amounts are small, I change the diff oil each time I change engine oil (10k)

thats a good proactiveness for the diff, but don't you think engine oil to be changed earlier, i.e. 5k?
