Re: Fuel filter and Diff Oils changed - with pics

10forcash has posted this comment in another thread, which may be useful: "Filling the fuel filter is quite easy and doesn't need the LP bleed procedure above...
fit filter, turn on ignition for 40 seconds, turn off ignition, turn on for 40 seconds another 4 times, start engine & run for 2 minutes - applies to <07MY and 07MY onwards
if it's relatively quiet, you can hear the in-tank pump running, the air is pushed out to the return line, not to the engine
also, when fitting the <07MY filter, make sure you hear the pipe fittings click into place on the filter"
New fuel filter fitted and the approach above works a treat

just changed diff oils on my MY07. undid filler plug on rear diff and oil came literally pouring out! driveway slopes back on a gentle gradient and filler is at rear, so i thought i'd just been stupid and that was the issue (then jacked up rear slightly to compensate). However I emptied remainder from drain and in total got 1.8l out... and it's not got an e-diff
i cant work out how they even got the oil in there in the first place! anyone else experienced this?

Hi Criky
The "easy" way to check for an e-diff is to raise the car to off road height, then look through the gap under the car over the top of the rear wheel.
If you have one you will see the stepper motor and wiring sitting on-top of the diff.
Click on my gallery to see a pic of it. Sorry Mines a bit muddy

fuel filter change
Hi, First time on here so firstly just wanted to say that posts like this a great! i ve just done and and fuel filter change! never done anything like this before so thanks for the step by step instructions to give the confidence to tackle jobs like this.
My fuel filter was a bit of a pig to get out as there was so much corrosion on the yellow pipe, end up having to unstrap the filter and twist it off to break the corrosion. i am sure it was the original filter,
54 plate on 88k, now goes like a rocket, hoping consumption will get better now?
next weekend weather permitting ill have a crack at the transmission change..
Just done the fronts but the back filler and drain are different sizes to the front. the 14mm drain is to big and the drain is almost a T45 hex??
Any suggestions on how I can spend more cash?Mark

Are you sure it's not just dirt stopping the 14mm hex bit fit into the drain? Mine was an 05 in the original post, so yours should be the same?Previously:

apologies for being stupid, but which part of the underside do I remove to get to the fuel filter? Is it the same bit you need to remove for the oil sump? Thanks, 1x muppet.

Is that the really long one on the right hand side? It looks rather heavy?

It might just be corrosion. I've just done the rear on my '06 and the drain and filler were the same as the front - 3/8th square and 8mm hex respectively. However, the latter needed some persuasion due to corrosion inside the hole:
