Botanic Gardens this morning.

And a few pics from yesterday. Piece of wall outside a restaurant, as you do.

And the pipes that are everywhere in this part of Berlin. At first we thought they were art installations but no, they are functional.

Reichstag building. We didn’t get in the dome as it’s booked out weeks in advance.

And our river boat from few days ago. Big beastie and squeezed in some of the bridges with inches to spare. And once a bit of a bump!

And a few signs in the old buildings re Battle of/for Berlin.

And finally a modern juxtaposition. Horses on top of an old arch and protest to save the penguins. Thumbs Up

Pepper soup, prawns & pasta shells and beef cheek.

Lovely cheeses, best bread was walnut.

Strawberry layered thing, macarons and choc filled doughnuts.

Sweet bits are for the two of us, honest. They have them there for a short time, then clear them for breakfast stuff. It’s only taken us 6 nights to realise we need to get in early!!

All with lovely German fizz.

Gonna miss this lounge! Big Cry

Beware. If your luggage cases are bigger than aircraft cabin size you will need separate (half rate) tickets for them on the Prague metro.
Gestapo type inspectors, paid on commission, watch for tourists, particularly at interchange stations like Museum, and detain them until cash fines are paid.
Reduced price ticket offers for older people are only valid when in possession of a registration card. A passport showing age is no good.

Travel cards are cheap and cover the funicular.

We’re strictly carry on size, seeing what some peeps carry we’re very glad. Thanks for the heads up. Thumbs Up

Just checked in the hotel, turns out I managed to book the Presidential Suite!! Booked a suite as the standard rooms looked a bit tiddly, wasn’t expecting this:

Boudoir as seen from the veranda.

And lovley scoff it was too, well and truly stuffed. And with beers and cider, all in less than the price of a single course in many places in the earlier parts of trip. Thumbs Up

Goulash soup for MrsDSL, 3 different sausages for me with lovely mustard and horseradish cream. The latter was like squirty cream with a bit of HR slashed through it, most weird.

And mains, fried cheese for SWMBO and roast pork knuckle for me. All with lashings and lashings of lovely buttery mashed spuds.

And beer at less than 30p a bottle in the supermarket where we stocked up on essentials (milk, yoghurt and choc chop cookies). Resisted the lure of the beer!

SWMBO has just found scales in the bathroom, somehow I think it’s not going to be pretty tomorrow morning numbers-wise! Big Cry Big Cry

As always, the scoff looks very very moorish Thumbs Up

No map, though some countries are larger!! Still disappointed that they’re not flying a flag as we are in residence. Whistle Whistle And I hope the scales are wrong. Big Cry

Pics from today, touristy day seeing the castle and walking the mean streets with what seems like millions of peeps. Here in Prague Da Bug is a very dim and distant memory, deffo life back to normal. Thumbs Up

View from the Presidential Balcony, or was it one if the several windows, this morning. Lovely and quiet.

Sweeeeeeeet old tram. And some trams are made by Skoda! Discerning trams they are too!

And off to the castle. Lots of oldie worldie things to see, mostly to do with very grizzly ends. Someone lost their head on a stag do to Prague.

And a total fascination with all things torture!

Just don’t give Deutsche Bahn ideas!

And you just know this chap is hanging around for another beer!

Sadly it’s not the only Chrimbo shop in Prague, there are others!

Very Harry Potteresque cathedral, but then so is half of Prague’s old town.

Gratuitous pano time.

And lovely views of the town.

Perfect combo! We have seen places doing beer cosmetics, we thought that was just spilt beer.

Off out for scoff tonight, past our nearest museum! Shocked Shocked

Food was scrummy in a canteen. Added this place’s beer mats to our collection, well lunchtime’s beer mat. Whistle

And that’s for both of us, honest. Thumbs Up

Then lovely view of more Harry Potter buildings while sitting watching the horses and the world go by.

Last night in Prague and I don’t think it will be a quiet one. Switzerland is here, seems like most of them, playing the local beer consumers, ie national team, in the Nations Cup. Never heard of it but we have now!

It’s shade under 2 hours to go and the local riot police were gearing up as we hit the hotel area on the way back from scoff. Penny dropped when I spotted one of the burly riot police putting on full body armour was sporting Swiss police insignia.

To paraphrase Col Kurtz, I don’t like the smell of CS in the evening!! Big Cry Big Cry

And re scoff. Went back to the Kantyna restaurant for a final feed. It’s a bit of a veggie’s nightmare but really good food that you buy by weight.

Their ventilation system is a work of art!!

First visit, with obligatory beer. It’s the law! All trays/plates are for both of us.

Second visit, not as good as ordered wine marinaded boneless ribs, too much fat. But it all got eaten. Again, it’s the law!

Total weight is on the ticket. Hmmmm, that’s a lot of meat, not sure the diet’s gone that well today.

And the dark beer was lovely, seriously lovely!

But the prize for todays food was the Trdelnik, and version cooked on charcoal.

It was scrummy, and with none of the ice cream in there that they put in for the tourists.

Diet, what diet! Whistle

Off on another long train, back to Vienna for a few days. And yes, another Nations Cup match is there when we are in residence! Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry
