Yes, was just a transit point. We enjoyed some croissants and pan au choc this morning on the train. Will be back in Paris near the end of June and have a few days booked to see le sites.
Presently hussling through French countryside at ~300kph. Lots and lots and lots of green!

And greetings from Marseille!! 3 1/2 hours in a train for what would have taken me a day to drive.

Settled into modest lodgings looking over the harbour.

Lovely view from room, plus it has it’s own terrace so it’s outdoors cheese, ham wine and bickies tonight, all c/o the local supermarket.

Booooooootiful day here, the sun is shining and very pleasant wander around the old port area. Things are busy, peeps everywhere, and apart from wearing a mask on the train ride, Da Bug is a distant memory for most.

Will sort out the boat ride tomorrow, looking rough towards end of the week, not in these boats as I took a pic of the wrong boats.

Good to see the Eastenders cast are on holiday and have brought their pub with them.

Nice lazy rest of day, just got the next few days to plan out before we head off on Sunday.
PS And for those with nothing better to do, ie shirking from home, a vid of the ferry across the harbour. Last time I took a ferry from Marseille it was to Tunis, at least this was calm.

Someone’s got to do it, though what we’ve got planned this is not even getting warmed up.

More of the same, no plates (they don’t really think you’ll be bringing in your own food/would rather sell you the food) so lots of trips back to “the buffet” to stock up. Cheese selection box base and top make good plates. And cake for pud. Diets taken a nose dive.

And will, in good old Road Trip/Grand Tour fashion, post the odd pic of scoff. This morning’s breakie, fuel for walk to a couple of museums, one of which had a little queue, one had monster queue. Hey Ho, will go back to Brit Museum when it’s quieter.

And loved this in a packed Covent Garden.

Will do. Scoffing in a MichStar joint on Thursday so that should make for interesting pics.

Morning all, greetings from the breakie terrace. Another booooooootiful day.

No pic but it’s a joyous thing, French baguette, lashings of butter (mainly coz it’s too cold to spread) and apricot jam, memories of past trips. Must confess though, the best French bread is still to be had in Vietnam. Sorry French friends, if I still have any!!

And a few pics from the rest of today. This morning was spent wandering around on foot. Not much to report/photograph apart from the fish market at the top of the Vieux Port.

And this reminds me of the old joke:
Waiter, waiter, was this monkfish wild?
Wild? It was livid!

This afternoon was a boat trip out to the local national park, Calanques NP.
View of Marseille on the way out.

Lots of limestone massif with bays and cliffs, where you get cliffs you get climbers. Prize for whoever spots them. Careful what you wish for!

And for R01 and the rest of the reprobates that went to Tunisia, you know who you are , this should bring back memories.

Dinner was moules & frites, really nice at the harbour, most scrummy. Mind you, my attempts at speaking CSE grade 2 French failed miserably when serving dude didn’t even understand my use of the word “moules”.

Was getting cold and the VC (rose for a change) was having its effect so didn’t get a 3rd pitcher. Not a bad move if my horizon is anything to go by.

End of a good day, face is hot as a fusion reactor from overdoing it on the sunshine, cup of coffee and settling down with the Beeb, c’yall tomorrow.
