You've gone to see the Gnomes of Zurich?
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I'll go one further:

You were just outside Union Diner Stauffacher on the junction of Sihlbrücke and Kasernenstrasse in Zurich

Took the tram back in for scoff, bratwurst from Sternen Grill, takeaway of course!! I’d forgotten how powerful proper senf is, my nose was streaming at the end but I had to resist the temptation to clean out the little tub with my tonge. And for a bit of veg, spud salad.

Really busy around the lake bit, there was a circus in and it was almost +30c!

Settling in for a lazy evening and watching TV, Pearl Harbour (original version). Got a long day on trains tomorrow. Thumbs Up

Was on the Graz train but hung a left at Innsbruke. Whistle Whistle

Bye bye Graz locos, and grateful they held our connection as we were a tad late.

Oh, and lovely lunch on the train. Thumbs Up

And greetings from Vienna. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Bit of a long train day but the first train from Zurich to Innsbruck was one of the SBB Panorama coaches that we reserved seats on for no extra cost. Pic of the carriage but we were near the rear at that time and I CBAed walking to the front for a loco number picture.

Lovely big windows, excellent for a bit of photo-bombing by a campervan!

That train was running a bit late but they held the connection through to Vienna, phewwwwww. Quick run over the platform and we were on, and no longer in a mild state of panic. Thumbs Up

Now happily ensconced in a nice hotel in Vienna with a fantastic view over the parks, and been upgraded to a suite. Happy Days. Thumbs Up

A few more pics from today. It was supposed to be a lazy day but they have a habit of clocking up more kms than on “busy” days. Shocked Shocked

We were just out of the hotel and this van passed us. Unfortunately SWMBO now knows that chocolates come in vans and not just boxes!! Shocked

Not often you see a traffic sign for this many capitals.

Went for a walk along the Danube, once we figured how to actually get beside it, then back to the hotel (remember it was supposed to be a lazy day), then back out to the Prater park to THE ferris wheel.

It’s a lot more developed now, a whole amusement park around it. SWMBO was very keen on getting me on the rides so she could take pictures, but no way was she getting me up on this!

And back on a super-old tram, to the metro then “home” for tea and medals, otherwise known as cheese and fizzy vino. Thumbs Up

Re Metro, today was the first time we travelled on “proper” underground metro since beginning of 2020 in Singapore. Bit of a PITA wearing FFP2 masks on public tpt in Austria (we didn’t wear masks at all in Switzerland) but we were good ducklings, albeit with a sweaty upper lip in my case! Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

PS And yes, discussions re Third Man would be meaningless without the music:

A couple of days doing the tourist things, seeing the sights and riding the trams. Thumbs Up

And choc cake and topfenstrudel (think bread & butter pud without the bread) for lunch. Plus a little warming in the hot choc. Thumbs Up

Today went to see the white horses train, no idea how to spell lipetzana properly, no pics of them but was nice to watch, have booked in for the proper show on Saturday. Thumbs Up

Watching the horses train is hungry work do dropped into Demel (pronounced Dremel in my mind) to try out their sachertorte and strudel.

What is s’pose to be one of the best was a bit more style than substance though. Confused Mind you the coffee was nice, esp with all that whipped cream.

Booked a boat trip for tomorrow then back on the tram into the centre. Really liking their trams, esp since a week of public tpt was only €17!

Just by chance jumped off right at a market with lots of food.

From this

just add mustard and bread! Mr. Green Mr. Green I was tempted to add the “waiter, waiter” joke but thought better of it. Whistle

Really nice old beer truck at the market. Didn’t try any though. Embarassed

Nice statue of dude on horse on way back to hotel. Thumbs Up

Busy day tomorrow, and it’s going to be toastie. Very toastie. Thumbs Up

It was indeed, with scrummy food, schnitzel and roast pork.

Scrummy pud, apfelstruddel and topfkuchen.

And schnapps, of course, rude not to.

In a lovely little restaurant on a hiking trail in the hills above Vienna, with not a tourist in sight.

Last night in Vienna, will bung up some assorted pics later. Back on the trains again tomorrow. Thumbs Up
