It was a genuine seal.
He does have a spare VR seal only a few months old. Are they still considered no good? Or has no one tried/trusted them since ?
Can you clarify the best way to fit them Mike ?
He used the VR tool before I think.

VR seal NEVER AGAIN
Time wise I’ve no option but to get stuck in haha desperate times
Right...
Genuine seal on order for tomorrow
14mm bolt on order nearly
Need to know do I buy genuine water pump from dealership for £70 or buy from AF the Dolz or Meyle one please?
Dealership says don’t buy non genuine but AF says they’ve never had a problem with non genuine they sell.
Also can I spray contact cleaner in the front of pump where seal should be? Or just wipe and avoid contact cleaner going inside oil?

So was that a VR seal that poped out ?
You should be able to Trust AF W/pumps.
Yes use some cleaner. A lot of people use brake cleaner in an aerosol

If it's too awkward to get tape round it, get a small plastic bottle and push it over the connector then jam it somewhere so it won't fall off. .

I think if you turn the ignition on and then off and disconnect the battery within 30 secs.
The alarm shouldn’t go off

Got genuine seal this morning from Chester £7
So I put it 2mm deeper than the edge of the pump? Or flush?
With the spring facing inwards to the pump? (Spring around the inner circle to keep tension) Disco 3 SE Manual 2005 V6 2.7

As far as I know.
The spring goes inwards.
And you should push it in until it naturally stops. (which should be at least flush)
ppl do recommend using the VR tool. (even if if their seals are poor!)
