I do not like the looks of the D5, but I also did not like the D3 when it first came out, but for the last 5 years I have been driving one!
To be fair as I have never bought a new car and most likely never will, what I think really does not matter to JLR.

Personally, I don’t see why the site shouldn't incorporate the D5 particularly as it followed that the D3 site incorporated the D4 members. Just an opinion.

Yup, there’s only just under 26,000 post on the D5 site and 17,246 over here. Granted 17,244 of those are anti D5 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Personally I think everybody needs to calm down re: D5.
It’s not perfect, nothing is but when your D3/4 comes to be replaced. What are you seriously going to replace it with????
Either a D5, Defender or a double cab pick up.
Chill guys - it’s just a car.

To answer the above question, I replaced my 6th consecutive Discovery with an L405 FFRR and I’m happy to point out the negatives as well as positives in doing so.
This is a forum for D3/4, so of course posters will have strong opinions on other vehicles, particularly other LR models. It would be odd if they didn’t. 👍2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Agreed, but no one constantly needs their nose rubbed in it. It’s not like we’ve not heard it before, many, many times, although referring the D5 to a Disco Sport is just pure baiting or a total lack of understanding about the various models.

It’s just the inevitable (it’s a D3/4 forum) opinions of individuals, that’s all. If you like the D5 and it suits your needs why care what others think.
As for styling and design, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”, but the D5 does share much of the current LR design dna with the DS. Just as the FL2 did with the D3/4.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Spot on.
One can have strong opinions, good or bad, on a vehicle and still retain a calm demeanour.
Strong opinions on the D5 and successive Discovery models will always be aired on this forum. You can’t expect otherwise.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

My calm opinion is that I've been driving one for 21 months and few aside from a handful on here really give a about the looks ...I receive far more compliments about it ...just over 1 more year to go but I would certainly have another ( hybrid\electric depending) as I've come to the conclusion that it is more practical than the new duffender 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Hi Del. I think the Jazz is a great bit of design btw. Especially the rear seats/boot area, very clever. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Agreed. For me the New Defender has it's DNA closer to the D3/D4s than the Disco 5, that's closer to the Discovery Sport, and should be actually badged as the Discovery Sport "L".
Surely FFDS ?

It is indeed, ideal as a dog mobile, even though we have no dogs and are several thousand miles away.
Though I was thinking it was only a year and a bit since DG got his D5.
PS Mind you, when you keep cars into double digits like we do it seems everyone changes cars every other month.
