They count AdBlue as a negative, no more difficult at filling up than the 4 Confused

Still not much in it in my eyes.

As Ken said the X7 does make quite a compelling case if it lives up to the hype.

Tailgate height from ground (standard access height) =780mm
Tailgate height from ground (reduced access height) = 760mm

Bit crude but

Sorry it’s taken a while but, like for like with the L405 Fatty:

Width of opening at boot floor level = 1130mm
Width of opening at inner roof level = 960
Centre height boot floor to centre inner roof = 830mm
Side height boot floor to side inner roof = 805mm
Tailgate height from ground (standard access height) =740mm (corrected)
Tailgate height from ground (reduced access height) = N/A

Are you sure about that access height DG? Parked side by side, there’s always been a big difference when moving dog between Fatty and service loaner D5 (which is only logical, with the same floor pan and similar running gear, but allowing greater height to pack the third row seats down into the boot floor).

Please could someone measure the same figures for a ‘4 and post them here?

Its the tailgate appeture that lets the D5 down, as its not as high as the D4. I could get a fridge or washing machine upright in the D4, but cant in the D5 as the opening hieght is 32.5" (in old money) and a typical undercounter appliance is 34" high.

The chap with the big dog would have to get him to duck Whistle

The actual loadbed inside is longer than the D4.

However whyen you start looking BMW have issues with engines as well
The cost to get an equivalent to the D5 HSE Lux is a lot more
Towing weight is down considerably to the D5

So yes it looks like a contender in some ways but not in others and if you tow a lot close to the maximum of the D5 on a regular basis the X7 is never a contender

I hadn’t picked up on 2.7t being the limit for towing, but I guess not many will tow beyond that with Thisbe type of vehicle even with horses. The M50 engine performance looks awesome and I guess the reliability will be an awful lot worse than LR but for some this risk might be worth taking.

Well took the dealer three days to call back with a price and we still have not spoken as its been several messages left both ways so don't know what the price is! Thing is if they had packaged me a great deal on the day - I was expecting a call back an hour or two later - then they might have got me. However, with the delay and the difficultly of convincing my wife why I should buy 'that ugly car' I have looked at the Volvo price list in more detail and I can get what I want from them for just over £50k after discount so that's the place to go for me. Thanks all for the help.

PS What is interesting is how much the trade price of my Euro5 D4 has fallen in the last year or so.
