Hi James,
Have you tried this on a sport yet? I have recently put a 10.4 inch Android unit in the dash but would be interested in doing this mod also. I have an GAP tool to send you any details you need.

Didn’t end up getting the Mac software (command line) to work for downloading/uploading the EPROM, so ended up using my Parallels Windows 7 and Windows based software. I then used iHex on the Mac OS to edit the binary file, compare and copy between new cluster and old Discovery cluster. As James as said multiple times, it’s not straight forward but I’m glad I stuck with it (Thanks again James).
Just this second finished putting the dash back together with new internal cover for the binnicle (cracked when I took off). Just waiting on IID Tool to arrive which I hoped would be here this week as in stock at Duckworths, but seemed not after I paid. Ended up doing a few mods to the plastic dashboard interior with my Dremel to get it to fit and then drilled/tapped (M5) new screw holes secure it.
The biggest problem besides the EPROM programming is getting the new cluster back in with the cover (vinyl cover bit) in place. As per previous post by Neil, I ended up mullering mine and will be recovering it at some point in the future.
Good luck all and really happy now nearly complete.RLD CB Bracket

I damaged the leather dash cover the first time I took it out second time I took steering wheel and surround off and much easier without any damage
Well worth the few minutes more to take the wheels off in my opinionDisco 3 gone but not forGotten

After being inspired by James I thought I’d have a tinker with my Rrs and a spare D3 cluster just to get my head around the eeprom programming before investing in a dash to try and get it working in the earlier models, the only trouble is now my car no longer starts I was struggling to read the hex and asc11 and translating it into anything other than the dash serial no and part no.s so I decided to read the dash from my car for comparison and fit the spare to get the actual mileage and vin so I knew what to look for, after doing a read on my cluster I decided to write that file to the spare cluster, the spare cluster now shows the correct mileage & vin but my car wouldn’t turn over so I fitted the correct cluster and even tho I didn’t edit the file it still won’t turnover and there’s no fault codes showing wooopsie.Current

I cannot see how a later rr sport (+09) will work in a d3 to be honest the can speeds are different so I carnt see how the car can read to requires info from the cluster to the car
If you haven’t touched the old cluster apart from read it I don’t see why it won’t startDisco 3 gone but not forGotten
