Again, expect it's just me but I think it looks out of place and much worse than the original, plus it's bound to be off-putting to any future purchaser, so yeah is there a benefit to doing it?
I'm of the same opinion, I don't have a problem with the dash on my D4.
However, I fully appreciate that modifications are very much a personal thing. For example, I've chosen to fit the smallest wheels possible, whilst others have decided to fit the largest.
Whilst I wouldn't want to do this mod, I'm full of admiration for the skill and knowledge that has gone into it and for James sharing that. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Might take some time to get here as it is from the US (cheap $115!), but I will keep you posted.
I’m still not so sure about a d3 i just don’t see it or how it can be done I would try if I had a d3 but the fact the high speed and medium
Speed can is different speeds I don’t see how it can communicate with the car but still worth
A try I wouldnt have got this far if I hadn’t tried doing it to mine and no one on here
Would now have a digital dash 🤭🤭
Yeah at first I thought maybe It's somehow possible if you also swap the SatNav Unit + screen to the D4 one, but the guy in the video still has the original one in.
Other folks have also upgraded their D3 SatNav + Screen to the D4 one. Shouldn't that (in theory) also give CAN Bus issues?
But if anything fails, I still have an LR4 to fit it 😅
No as the early d4 screen didn’t use a can connection that was controlled by the stereo head unit and a most connector to display hence why only pre 2012 displays would work in a d3
What happed when you plugged the new cluster in before doing any programming? Was it completely blank or has it shown signs of life?
Yes mate think you get airbag light and that’s it when the car sees the key it goes through security check with the cluster mainly vin and ic security and as it’s wrong won’t go any further and turn on Disco 3 gone but not forGotten

Glad I have held off so far then!!
For me it would be great to have the 4x4 screen on the cluster so I can bury my head unit screen behind something that will accept some modern maps and navigation.
Current pie in the sky is an ultra thin 9" head unit that runs android and will accept a carplay adapter.
If only we could get that to talk to the cluster display!!!!!!!!!!

Aye!! Was sort of replying to the question, "why would we do the mod".
Think the 4x4 info is about the only thing I cant replace otherwise if I bury my screen.
Have a plan for the clock on the AC controls to avoid trying to alter it twice a year!!

I know that mate was just saying why do we all mod things
On another note I noticed on eBay 2013 instrument clusters being brought I hope no one on here has brought them as there cheap at 90-100 pound there cheap for a reason as there different and cannot be used on a d4 as of yet anyway Disco 3 gone but not forGotten

Okay so after doing some research, I found that the D3 is using 29-bit CAN and the D4 11-bit.
From what I've read, both protocols can be compatible in the same system. The 29-bit one can hold more information but is not per se giving an 11-bit module errors.
Can't wait to get my hands on the new dash to start testing '05 LR3 4.4L V8 SE - Java Black
'08 D3 2.7L TDV6 HSE - Java Black
'11 LR4 5.0L V8 HSE - Fuji White

A 11 bit dash won’t talk to a 29 bit dash mate tbh
That’s why not a lot can be connected from
A d4 to a d3
But fun trying Disco 3 gone but not forGotten

I really must resist this.
I’d really love a digital dash like the FF RR or the Sports. 2010 Disco 4 HSE
