Can't wait to try this on my RRS2010 as the current cluster is playing up.
Have a chip reader and have dumped a few laptop bios's - so hoping this goes smoothly.
Can't PM anybody due to the 3 post rule

is it doable on MY2016 D4?
Can't see why not.

Hello - This thread is an excellent show of inquisitive passion for the brand and all the curious owners... what if, is the beginning of each conversation...
I have zero expertise in the coding realm.
I found a cost-effective candidate to replace my analog cluster.
I'm hoping James can help me out on this...

Anyone experienced battery drain after doing this?
I only have the one error in IPC for the fan? Did anyone solve this? I wonder if some other modules are now staying awake or its an unrelated incident.
Also any ideas how you get the 4x4 info on the screen? RRS2010 - maybe it's not possible?

No battery drain, no fan error.
On my 2010 TDV8 RRS the 4x4 screen comes up (as it happens on the FFRR) when I select "rock crawl". The speedo moves to the right and full 4x4 info screen appears on the cluster display.

Thanks for confirming- did you fit an additional fan then?

No, I run it vanilla.
Will have some more time for SDD coming weekend and will confirm there is no error. It didn't show any when I was tinkering with gauge scale once I installed the cluster.

Ahh yes, it doesn't show an error in the gauge, just in the IPC section of errors via GAP IID.
Just states fan is not working. I do have an array of old PC fans I could fit - just need to work out where and which wires to use to eliminate the message.
I don't seem to have any wiring diagrams for L322, so will try and find them.

I am using JLR SDD for exactly what you are doing with IID, so should there be an error, I'm gonna see it.

Not sure if it has been mentioned already, but someone has customised the default range rover image to a custom one:

finally got around to trying reading L322 cluster i got of fleabay using ch341 programmer modded to 3.3 V and all
setting right chip (i think) i only get a few lines as per shot:

is wrong IC picked or maybe pin layout on adapter which came with the device? also tried different adapter and got some readout which took 12 min shows cars mileage but no vin to be found so i assume read failed
any help suggestion appreciated to move forward with it

You gotta set it for a 24C16A chip. The one you have chosen is a 1024 byte unit. The output should be 2048 bytes with VIN clearly visible.
I don't know the layout of a 2016 cluster, but I assume it is more or less same deal as before (bar the infotainment/phone data on the LCD) so what you are looking for on the PCB is this:

Pin 1 is on the lower left in this case.Wojtek

Has anyone tried installing this range rover screen into the D4 supplied by blackdecal.com? Seems to be coded right out of the box. Too good to be true??

I bet you need to send your old cluster to them, they will read the data from the old cluster and program it into the digital one, charge you a hefty price and send the digital cluster back. I don't see a way to transfer the data from the old one to the new without physical access to the original.Wojtek

You're right, my question was poorly worded
They ask to send the original cluster to copy codes from it, then send the new cluster back with the codes loaded already. Given this is currently a 36 page forum post (and I'm no slouch with mods), I'm very tempted to go the lazy route and use them, even if it is a bit expensive!
Anyone with experience with blackdecal.com and their RRS screen exchange? This mod has to be the trickiest (potentially, having not attempted it) but coolest mod I've seen to date for the disco's2005 Discovery 3 4.4L V8, gone
