Thanks James, couple of things would be helpful
What’s the size of the data (hex or ASCII) that I’m looking for? I presume these will likely be the same.
You did one for Neil I believe which was 2012, that’s the year of my D4, so if you have done any of that year, that might be a good starting point.
At the minute I’m not sure if I’m looking for 1 byte, 2 bytes of data or more for each of the codes, so as you say could take days/weeks of trying for all combinations.
Thanks again

Nearly there.....
Just need to figure out the mileage reset on the chip, and the display type......
I would certainly recommend getting someone like James who knows his way around the chip data, as its complex and certainly NOT straight forward. Thanks again for the help getting so far James.RLD CB Bracket

Just ordered a cluster (AH42-10849-AS) and IC programmer to test on my D3. From what I've seen, the connector seems to be the same and it should be possible as we've seen in the '09 RRS video.
Might take some time to get here as it is from the US (cheap $115!), but I will keep you posted.'05 LR3 4.4L V8 SE - Java Black

Well after a long afternoon of fitting and refitting and a few mods to the dash binicle, I’ve managed to get it in and working.
Didnt have chance to drill and screw the cluster, but going to get good drill bit, tap and bolts from work to finish off. Damaged a few things in the process - binicle internal plastic cover snapped in a couple of places when removing, binicle vinyl is damaged quite a bit on its edge, so going to look for a replace or get it recovered, maybe in similar material to dashboard 😉
Also lost a few spring clips, so ordered a few replacement.
As per previous posts, there is a little gap around the new cluster, but to be honest not really noticeable. Might look to put some black strip of foam around the edge, not sure really needs it.
Last electrical job is to find someone with IID tool to help me with rev range update..... any offers in Huddersfield/Manchester area???? Please 😉 beer token could be involved 😋RLD CB Bracket

One thing I forgot from above is a massive thank you to James for all the help, he was invaluable in helping me, and based on how difficult/time consuming it was to figure out, I would certainly recommend considering James to reprogram the cluster for you.
Thank you again James, you’re a real star.RLD CB Bracket

I’m still not so sure about a d3 i just don’t see it or how it can be done I would try if I had a d3 but the fact the high speed and medium
Speed can is different speeds I don’t see how it can communicate with the car but still worth
A try I wouldnt have got this far if I hadn’t tried doing it to mine and no one on here
Would now have a digital dash 🤭🤭Disco 3 gone but not forGotten

Yeah at first I thought maybe It's somehow possible if you also swap the SatNav Unit + screen to the D4 one, but the guy in the video still has the original one in.
Other folks have also upgraded their D3 SatNav + Screen to the D4 one. Shouldn't that (in theory) also give CAN Bus issues?
But if anything fails, I still have an LR4 to fit it 😅'05 LR3 4.4L V8 SE - Java Black

I guess it's just me but I'm struggling to see the benefits from doing this, am I missing something?
Again, expect it's just me but I think it looks out of place and much worse than the original, plus it's bound to be off-putting to any future purchaser, so yeah is there a benefit to doing it?

Let me think yea cause I like it and think it looks much better than the crap out of date one that’s in there
Why do people
Change there wheels cause they like them and want to
Why do people change anything cause they want to
And how can it be off putting as I have me old one in the loft and when I trade it in in the future I put it back without even knowing it had been changed
The digital display is so more

No as the early d4 screen didn’t use a can connection that was controlled by the stereo head unit and a most connector to display hence why only pre 2012 displays would work in a d3Disco 3 gone but not forGotten

I haven't done anything with CAN bus at all but am somewhat experienced with Arduino and programming little robots lol.
Maybe they're taking the D3 CAN and "convert" it to the right speed for the D4 Cluster with an Arduino? Would be a lot of work but I mean the RRS video does look pretty legit.
Do you know the D3 and D4 CAN bus speeds?'05 LR3 4.4L V8 SE - Java Black

What happed when you plugged the new cluster in before doing any programming? Was it completely blank or has it shown signs of life?'05 LR3 4.4L V8 SE - Java Black

Woah there mate, I wasn't meaning to upset anyone it was a genuine question - is there anything other than the aesthetics that is making everyone want this mod, I totally accept that everyone's different and obviously I'm in the minority preferring the original, I was just intrigued if there was extra features etc etc that is making people want to make the change, that's all!
