Pension companies!! Rip off artists!!
Was notified in May last year that I have a pension with a company I had left over 20 years ago. Nice little sum but not earth shattering. Don't need it as I did not know about it. OK I will transfer it into my existing pension fund with another supplier. Because it's over £30,000 (not by much) and it's a defined benefit one I have to take financial advice. So arrange the financial advice but, because the pension company take 3 weeks to answer an email and insist on everything in writing it's taken me since June last year to get anywhere near getting it transferred. Start to arrange the transfer only to be told the value is not guaranteed, the transfer valuation only lasts for 3 months, you need another valuation. That will be £500 please!!!
So with the cost of the financial advisor and the new valuation fee they are taking almost 10% of the pension fund!!!
I could have taken the pension and was offered £6,000 cash tax free and £1,000 a year for life. That meant I would have to live for over 25 years after retirement to get the pension value back. This does not include any growth on the fund over the 25 years. If I die they get to keep any money left!! It's all a con to try and rip off your pension fund.

People who throw litter from their cars/vans.
I’ve just litter picked a lane by me about two miles long.
Filled 32 large bin bags ! Mainly empty cans of cider, soda, vodka bottles, Mac Donald/ Costa cups, crisp packets. Etc
Large numbers of bottled water. Why does anyone need to buy bottled water in the UK anyway?
And why throw the things in the first place. I know in 7/10 days it will look like I’ve not even bothered.
Just look at the state of the grass verges at the sides of our roads. I feel sorry for those that drive every day having to look at all the sh*t. We are looking like a third world country.Currently 2015 D4 SE Tech, Corris Grey

Not guilty! My passenger footwell acts as a litter bin for my sandwich wrappers when I'm out and about doing work visits. And I get tutted at by SWMBO if I forget to throw in the bin and she had them around her feet in the car. Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

Same here, passenger footwell is a most excellent bin. As long as it’s just me in the car.

Diversification is key.
I’ve always had property investment, but I am well aware of the liquidity and political risks associated with it.
My stockmarket linked investments have significantly outperformed property. 👍2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Don't pay it, haven't paid it for years, absolute waste of money and don't watch anything on BBC... they SHOULD move to a subscription service and then see how much money they get in... can't see many celebs staying there... and threatening to jail 80 years old who've paid it for most of their lives and now can't afford it - a national disgrace..I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

The article talks about foodstuffs you wouldn't expect from walkers ... whole potatoes, Brussel sprouts, cabbages... more like fly-tipping or someone thinking the horses aren't being fed..

Paper's own poll of its online readership shows that they won't pay for the BBC. Hmmm, right-wing readership doesn't like the BBC which is, of course, considered to be left wing by those people. Funny that, eh? Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

I found cut up raw potato in the field our horses are currently in. There's a footpath through the field but it's obviously someone in the village that thinks that horses will eat anything - who carries raw spud on a walk? Luckily, the horses have left the spuds alone but I think there was also some carrots offered to them as there is the odd bit lying about too.
Will need to put up some signs, not that it'll do much good I suppose.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

The BBC used to do all the research work that supports all things to do with audio and visual broadcasting, and probably still do.
The commercial channels rarely have any incentive to do anything that reduces their profits..
