Naturally, when we're only paying between ยฃ50-70,000 for a new car, we can't expect to be fussy about what they are providing us for the money - especially if there is a queue of fools who will pay whatever Land Rover ask for whatever they choose to build, as long as it has a nice shiny Land Rover badge on it.
For the money we're paying, I don't think we have to accept such low standards.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

I doubt the suits in LR HQ even know we exist!!
It's not that they will not make a good car. That's easy, even Dacia can do that. But if they listen to us they would make a superb car. But they don't, so it will just be mediocre and not give any reason not to buy a similar jelly mould euro 4x4.

I like it, but the question I have to ask myself now is.
Is the D5 worth the expense over the DS for my uses?23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green
The bottom half of the prototype tailgate, perhaps?

Done 200 miles today, normally only LRs (discos) catch my eye but found myself looking at anything and everything. Maybe we need a "whats the alternate" thread
I just need to see it in the flesh and see if its gonna work for what I need. If i do think it will work I may now struggle to bring my self to buy a fully loaded one if its anything like the compromise we think it will be.MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

I presume its opened by a button and can just imagine people shopping falling out
Yes, driveways and shopping centres parking around the world are littered with shopping bags fallen out of boots, you know, with all those millions of people owning cars without a split tail gate.
I believe it is a plot by the shopping centres with car manufactures, so that people have to buy twice to replace what they dropped.
Just to add fuel to the already stoked fire....I'm afraid the rear boot lid on the D5 will be the same type construction as the RRS2...... And your comments are likely to be true...... I am fortunate to have owned a RRS2 for the last two years as well as a D3 G4.... Every time I go grocery shopping in the RRS almost without fail I lose the contents of a shopping bag across the floor as I open the boot lid...it's as if the boot floor is angled backwards and infuriates me....I now pack certain things towards the rear of the boot area so as and when the contents of the bag falls out they don't smash.....
If I do a big shop I always take the G4 as it's far more practical! If I take the dogs out for the same reason I take the Disco.....the RRS boot is !

RDR: The good news is that we both have several / many years to find the right car and (at the D5's likely asking price) no need to accept second best!

Never have any problems with shopping falling out of boots we put ours into plastic crates, saves on bags and easy to carry to the house. And they are the collapse-able crates so don't take much space up when not in use..==================================
