His knowledge is suitably enriched, especially on the difference between diesel and coolant. Knowing I have passed on my technical prowess is payment enough indeed!! Laughing Laughing

How do you see the injector values in the IID. I had a look tonight and I'm Censored if i can find them.

You seem fairly good with your IID. I think i need to pop over and get a lesson from you!

Live values, engine stiff and about half way down. Engine should be up to temp and idling. Thumbs Up

Ok thanks. They were definitely not there with the engine off.

Do some items only become available when the engine is running?

Sorry to pick up an old thread but just ordered the IID Tool and about to start a similar (probably equally paranoid!) journey as you did... Mine is taking longer to start (just like yours - don't think it's fuel related, and definitely not battery related).

What made you change all of the injectors from those readings? Or was it just that sticking a whole load of nearly-new ones in was too good a deal to miss?

Thanks,

John

Does anyone know if the injectors from a 2.7 Jag XJ are the same as the Disco ones? Part numbers are slightly different but that is not uncommon from what I have seen between manufactures.

The reason for asking as I have been offered a set with low mileage for free but don't want to Censored up the engine if they are different.

Also I have seen that the bleed off pipe for a Disco 3 is £131 but for the Jag is £33, and they look virtually the same.

The injectors are different. That said, I ran a set in my D3 for 10k miles...

Mickey, did you have any issues, and can you remember what your IIDTool said when you tested it?

I have just checked my injectors as I had one go a while back and noticed the code is the same on the new one apart from the last 2 letters. The original was 4H2Q-9k546-AE and the new one was -AF. Doesn anyone know if this is just a revision number or a completely different injector configuration?

I think the jag letters generally mean different configuration (but can also mean revision change)

The jag with its twin turbos produces a bit more BHP so the injectors probably allow more fuel to be supplied.
