Land Rover taking the mickey again!
I'm fed up with JLR outrageously overcharging for parts. I can understand maybe a 50% markup as they have to provide a guarantee and supply through dealers (who are not wholesale operations), but often other manufacturers charge much less for the same part - they are just taking us for granted.
Had a failed front parking sensor: JLR want £80, bought a OEM part off web for £30
Then I removed the failed one: its a ford part!
put this part number into the web: you can get them for £10.MY2010 D4 3.0 TDV6 HSE Stornaway grey

nothing surprises me with LR....
mind you when you buy an Aston Martin and it uses Volvo parts including their keyfob, you realise that of course why wouldn't they just use others products saves them production and gives them more profit!!!
shame you hadn't popped the sensor out before. Oh well when the next one goes you'll be quids in. Loving my D4 HSE -MY10......!!!!

That is the way the whole automotive industry is
Yes, on my LR3 and LR4 (I hate the naming convention over here in North America), I have a ford brake pedal switch just that is in about every ford model sold, Spark plug coils packs are from a Ford Taurus, and I swear the mirror knob on the LR3 is just like the one on the Ford Fusion we have at work.
My D2 Purge valve came off of a 2002 Hyundai V-6 Sonata for 1/2 that price from the Hyundai dealer.
But wait, You said something about Volvo parts? I have a Volvo C30 and the rear brake caliper mount has... you guessed it FoMoCo cast into the metal.
I think there a few dozen companies that make all of the parts for all of the auto makers and just change the name depending on who they are making them this week.
Look on the bright side, with a little work you can save hundreds over LR dealer part prices by shopping at the ford dealer.

Remember that Ford once owned LR and i think they still own Volvo so makes sense to share parts across platforms.
Ford and Mazda share parts between the Focus and Mazda6 also, Saab use to use common Opel/GM parts.
