Looking at those figures, I'd suggest 3 and 6 look a tad high, with 4 also looking suspect. Replacing just 3 and 6 may balance out the others a little better. Thumbs Up

Daft question but how much are injectors fitted? LR or OEM, new or refurbed?

Land Rover don't make injectors but VDO Siemens do. Wink

Land Rover will probably try to charge you ~£300 or so per injector (plus fitting). You can buy VDO Siemens injectors for ~£200 each. They just won't come in a brown cardboard box with a green oval on it. Whistle

Don't buy refurbed. I'm still a bit sceptical about these refurbed ones that seem to be doing the rounds online and elsewhere. VDO Siemens have not yet released the parts to refurb them so they are invariably refurbed using parts form other injector manufacturers. Whilst they may work, I question the economics of paying £150 for a refurbed injector when a new one costs £200.

I plan to replace mine myself but, if you don't fancy it, I'm told geoff. is an expert injector fitter AND glow plug thief. Thumbs Up

Looks like a trip to either Geoff. or DM is on the cards. Heading up to Heelands tomorrow so could come back via Dundee. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Bow down

To give snake oil a chance, bunged a bottle of Redex (all my local B&Q had, didnt have the energy to trog to Halfords) in the nearly full tank. Well it may work. Laughing Laughing

Out of the different varieties of snake oil, I tend to use Forte products when servicing my D3. They do a diesel treatment which may help to clean the system a little before the new injectors go in. Thumbs Up

I always use their engine flush with every oil change.

The Redex was just what was available quickly and easily, I'd just been driving for 3 days solid so did not have the energy to do any more than the bare minimum. Once oop norf will have a look at Forte stuff on Amazon. Thumbs Up

Just a little re-visit. Car's done about 1,400 miles on posh diesel. Second last tank load (Total Excellium) with a couple of bottles of Redex. Next fill up about 140 miles ago, Shell Nitro+/V-Power (whatever it's called) with a couple of bottles or Wynn Injector Cleaner/Snake Oil (one bottle is meant to be for 31 ltrs plus so figured 2 bottles in 83 ltrs would be fine, with a bit of the Redex still in there).

Immediately after last fillup of diesel and Wynn's stuff immediately saw this!! Must have been having a sugar rush!! Laughing

Lots of full power, esp up hills, fully loaded should have flushed the cobwebs out and got the mpg readout back down to normal. Thought I saw a bit of smoke out the back initially but none after that.

When arrived took a screen dump when warm and I only had the P029B-00 (28 ) code, I've lost the other 2 codes. Mr. Green Mr. Green

This morning, took a screen print of cold

Now wondering if I can get this sorted after my Pyrenees Jolly in October, in prob ~4K miles. Confused

As a bit of a tie up, still getting these codes:

P029B-00 (68 ) Cylinder 1 balance - fuel trim at minimum limit
P02AE-00 (28 ) Cylinder 6 balance - fuel trim at maximum limit
P029E-00 (28 ) Cylinder 2 balance - fuel trim at maximum limit
P121A-00 (68 ) Cylinder balance – injector restricted

Trim values this morning:

In order (minor bug with IID app)

1___2
3___4
5___6

DM's fitting 6 new(ish) injectors fitted next week, will hopefully sort this out. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Looking forward to the new numbers Del. Make sure your FBH is working as that takes some of the strain in the colder months and above all, make sure your glow plugs are working properly.

FBH was working fine last time it was cold enough. Considering it was 2c up here one morning last August (I was sweltering nicely in Poland) that might me sooner than later. Laughing Re glow plugs I think they are OKish, but don't want to start playing parts roulette unless I need to, knowing how fragile they are.

Agreed, will be good to see how the numbers & faults do. If they are the same and it's not the injectors then I'll be going to the LR Party then touring Pyrenees this October in my Jazz as won't have a chance to get them sorted.

Well all fixed!!

Our resident northern mechanic fantastique (some call him Disco_Mikey) fitted 6 new (well 4k miles) injectors yesterday morning. Great fun watching him work, throwing in my occasional flash of technical genius. Laughing Laughing Embarassed

Then a 500 mile drive south and the difference is night and day. She's pulling like a train, going up hills on the M40 where she'd normally drop a gear she didn't bother, just kept going. She's really, really smooth. Mpg is back where it should be and I've lost the rattle. Deffo got her mojo back!

She's gone from this
