Hehe, not 30, but the 22-24 some folks have reported Razz

I'm actually getting 14.1 US mpg on this tank because I'm enjoying the throttle more than normal... Probably because I haven't had my motorcycle out in a week or so Laughing '05 LR3 HSE

2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Zambezi SilverDiscovery 3

Well just did a visit to Scotland to see my parents using:

York to Girvan

A59
M1/A1
A66
M6
A75

With an average fuel consumption of................30.4

But on the way back i got it up to......................33.4

Both these figures were for majority of the way.

Car is SE Auto with 8500 miles. Have to say throughly impressed.

mmm 33MPG and a bit to London this AM but driving around 70-75 most of the time on the motorway.

Boring yes ! but also relaxing listening to some cool tunes and looking out for twots in BMW's and Vectra's !

Soon as I hit the M25, M4, A4 and struggled down Piccadilly... went down to 26MPG !

Has anyone else actually carried out the full tank to refill check yet. I do not rely on the dash readings, mine are actual figures.

The D3 is costing on average £0.135 per mile, which in fact is less than Red Kens Public transport per mile and not including his £5 per car in the C (cash) zone. The Jimny costs £0.10 per mile.

Now look at it this way Greenpeace, I can carry 7 people in the D3 with reasonable luggage. In the Jimny, I can carry 4 people and no luggage or 2 people and a little luggage, which is better?

Again my maths are pretty useless, but:

D3 costs £0.019 per person per mile with full luggage
Jimny costs £0.05 per mile with 2 and some luggage or £0.025 with 4 and no luggage, either way it is more costly than the D3. Which is better for the environment, bearing in mind we do still have to travel because I do not live in a tipee and take it with me. In fact that would not be possible in the Jimny.

I used to check mileage with every tank (by calculating). My dash display agreed with my figures, so I usually use it now. It's about 5% optimistic, but I like optimism Laughing '05 LR3 HSE
