Changed the front and rear diff oil. Noticed front diff was slightly sweating and level was low. Only about 0.4 ltr drained out. Checked breather and found it to be completely blocked. Checked threads on this site ref front breather and saw it needed a modification as a common problem. I just cut it off and fitted an angled piece of rubber pipe facing downwards. Having cleaned off the oil around the diff with brake cleaner l road tested for around 25 miles and all appears dry. It's only just after 09.00 so while in the mood l'll check and see why steering sometimes feels heavy.

I tow a LOT of trailers, most are on 7 pin connectors and the last 4 I have bought have 13pin connectors on them, I know you can get the little 7>13pin adaptor things but that is a bit too ordinary for me so I did this -
Never in my life have I used just the white connector so got rid of it.
The photo really emphasises the rust on an 18month old discovery....26 and on the 4th LR..

Today I fitted a new EPB cable guide on the OS rear suspension arm as mine had almost worn through, I also noticed a whining/scraping noise from the rear OS area in the week and after a little investigation, it seems that the brake pad carrier on that side was only being held on by a single bolt!
As a temporary fix, I used an M8 socket alan head bolt I had lying around.
Ordered a new pair of bolts together with the cable guide from AF in the week and all's quiet from my back end, well, the car anyway as we had a curry last night.
Also fitted a rear ladder and a front number plate plinth I picked up from member LR Anorak who is having a clear out. Ta very muchly.
Weather permitting, tomorrow I will give it an oil change in preparation for a lot of driving in the next 2 weeks as it's holiday time.
Due to be traded in this week, after nearly 11 years of very happy motoring...I'll be striped of my D3 decade badge.

There's a lot of it going around. Having collected a new D4 for my wife, I've agreed a trade in on mine today Darren

It's all happened so fast, no time really to advertise on here. Which is a shame as I'd rather it went to a a fellow enthusiast than to auction.
Taking out the webasto, CB wiring and camera tomorrow. It will be quite sad walking away after 11 years happy motoring. As you slide down the banister of life

Fitted a new pair of gas struts from SGS Engineering as the rear ladder was proving a bit too much for the originals that were on the car.
Well worth the 2 minutes it took to swap out, rear dor comes fully up now and nice and quick.

At the weekend I replaced the old 12S and 12N caravan sockets with a 13 pin type, to match the caravan. Today I changed the transfer box oil , almost on schedule only 173 miles late!Simon.
