Use of syringe was fruitless.
Started administering small doses of dr tranny at 6pm and as I compose this almost 3.5 hours later, I still have a little bit to squeeze in. I am thinking it will be nearer 4.5 hours to get it all in.
Would I recommend the hose fill method?........yes as it saves crawling about under the heavy beastie, it is easy to pop the hose and to gradually add the dr tranny. Just make sure you leave yourself plenty of time
Time will tell if it solves my slight judder under load Colin

Just thought I would add this.....
I got around to adding my Dr Tranny this morning, the simplest way is to remove the cooler pipe indicated at the start of this thread but rather than wait to drip the stuff in, I just syphoned a small amount out of the hose with a piece of clear washer tubing - no waiting time!
The oil that came out was black and so I will still change my filter and have a flush when I have more time.

Tried the rad hose method earlier this week but the oil level wouldn't drop.
Since its to cold to get under the car I tried it with a warm engine and the off side jacked up on stands. This caused the oil level to drop much quicker. Squirted it an within the hour. CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS

Not a simple task to change the gearbox filter unless you have the metal sump fitted. Basically you have to break the oil feed pipe to the integrated filter on the OEM sump and refit a new sump. Which is not trivial as you have to drop the megatronic unit to get enough clearance to refit.
So you wouldn't do that, you would just fit a metal one with a separate filter. Subsequent filter changes are then easier - but still not a simple job. Mark.

Just an update to my story.
This stuff has cured my judders, and the box seems to shift more smoothly between the gears.
Anybody who is considering this job should just get on with it. You wont regret it.......although in hindsight the syphon out method sounds the best Colin

Did a few miles over the weekend and my judder that I have had for 2 years has gone.
My concern for us all though is that we have only added a friction modifier to cover up the problem. I will, after the Easter break, press ahead and get the filter/sump changed and either a double oil change or a flush. I got a spare Dr T so that will go in as well.
If I was going to be grumpy about this cure it would have to be that two years ago the car went into a LR dealer who spent a fair amount of my money on bits n bobs of suspension parts without a cure. I then over the coming months changed a propshaft and just about every ball joint on the steering and suspension just to see if I could cure the fault (that was not the box according to the dealer). Oh and a new set of tyres and 4 wheel alignment just in case.
A tenner was the cure (so far)

Don't think this stuff appears on their flow chart . Ever more desperate rinsing of the customer's wallet is on their, but a simple, cheap cure isn't.

Added Dr tranny to mine today, took less than ten minutes. Warmed up the Dr tranny in some hot water, took the pipe off that goes into the rad, used a pipe (from an old washing machine) connected to a syringe to suck the oil out of the pipe then added the Dr Tranny, connected the pipe back on to the rad and hey presto. You guys are gonna be busier than a test bench in a plunger factory!

Did mine today. Tried the rad end and couldn't suck out much with my big FO syringe so dropped the gearbox cover off with the offside on ramps, with engine running and it took a 10 mins total. Plus lubed up the transmission selector whilst was up. Dr Tranny appears to be awesome and I had a full fluid and filter change at 140000.
For anyone doubting just get some.... you wont be sorry

Yep, as above tried syringe method, , stopped as it was taking too long. Whipped off the gearbox cover and inserted mr tranny via fill plug, 15 minutes including getting the car on the ramps, swapped my fuel filter whilst I was under there too.
Judder Gone ( fingers crossed stays gone ) but whats more is the power band where i was getting the judder is smoooother and quicker acceleration in that zone.
Overall a nice little job, with instant results. Thanks to all who have pioneered this fix

I have decided to go the Dr Tranny route just as a precaution/preventative, as I have 95k on the clock and don't have the ability to change the auto sump/oil and I don't believe a reputable transmission flush is exists here in Spain.
I am planning to jack it up on one side and put the Dr Tranny in through the filler hole is there any chance someone could post a pic up if the filler hole I am looking for?
Out of interest how much is a replacement gear box, just as gauge against the cost of a flush against/getting an indie to replace the gear box sump and oil, a see what happens approach! As my BMW 525i has covered 240k+ miles on the same auto box and oil why won’t the D3? Club Narpy Torch
