The small things that LR could improve because I hate them.. |
|
Since there is a thread on "Small things that please..." how about a thread on things to improve because I hate them.
1. I hate the rain sensing front wipers. Put in a dwell feature and drop the sensing thing that you cannot adjust frequency of wiping like the back wiper - its too sensative.
2. I hate the spare tyre heat sheild. It's just ready to get caught on everything and chipped and split away.
3. I hate the mud flaps material which are all cracked now and ready to drop off.
4. I hate the spare tyre under the back because you can't load the cargo area up and then access the bolt to lower the spare.
5. I hate the way the plastic (wheel arches and mirrors) mark so easily after being bushed against over grown bushes.
But I still love my D3 - best vehicle I've ever owned

I agree with everything, except my mud flaps are still OK.
The exhaust heat shield on mine is very damaged.

1. I love the rain sensor, I just leave it on the lowest setting and it works great on mine, maybe your dealer can adjust the sensitivity?
2. Haven't noticed any issues but I'll take a closer look
3. My flaps are fine
4. Agreed, it would be nice if the bolt was still accessible with the rear seats down
5. Yup, the plastic does mark a touch too easily but a decent trim cleaner makes them look fine
Yup, D3's the best car on the road

Auto sensing headlights, need linking to rain sensor to come on when it's dull & :censored: down.
It would also be nice to be able to adjust the lux level when they come on.

The only little niggle that I can think of is the two silver buttons to operate the horn. They are very sensitive Often when turning the steering wheel franticlly to get into a tight space, we end up pushing the horn and giving a fright to all the pedestrians watching us manouvre the disco. Also when cleaning the car inside, I find myself tooting the horn when I dust the dash and wheel.

The rain sensing front wipers seemingly have a mind of their own. Most of the time I love them... They work brilliantly. Sometimes, though, they will not start up if the vehicle is started with moisture on the windscreen. I have to resort to using the manual wipe feature and then after setting it back to auto it works fine.
Also, when you wash the windscreen the wipers do not always come on when it's set to AUTO. That is annoying as I have to keep squirting until they do come on. That is hit-or-miss, too.
In general I do like the auto sensing wipers, tho.
Here's one that drives me batty: Without roof gutters, the Disco 3 drops rain right on the window switches if there's any moisture on the roof. I park outside (wife gets the garage!) and often when I get in and drive off with the windows open a bunch of water will suddenly drop on my arm/door after about a block or so of driving (invariably when I think it's safe to open the window, that no water is forthcoming) . I guess condensation forms up there and the wind movement brings it off the side of the roof. Annoying! '05 LR3 HSE

There is a delay before the wipers start up so you can wash without wipe, if you 'squirt' for less than 0.5 secs the wipers won't come on. So on auto if the squirt doesn't go on the rain-sensor the wipers won't come on The End

I like how the wipers slow down, when the car slows down etc. Never had a problem with the horn, but then I don't cross my hands. (don't - say - a - word TFC just don't even think it )

The wipers for me were the biggest thing I had to get used to... I had to accept the fact that they were just going to do what ever when ever they wanted! Daytime they come on too often and at nighttime they don't come on often enough. I really hated them at first, but, Im over it. The dial on the stalk does nothing to the sensativity on mine. I do like how fast they come on when a big spash of mud hits the windscreen... Faster than a human could react! Wa Hoo
