Already looked at that option but as I've already had to replace some auxilliary belts and pulleys I'm not keen on adding to the liad with a hydraulic winch, plus the cost for something I may use once in a blue moon is a put-off.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Well done, Andy (CFB).
I have bought the same winch from the same place, and just waiting for Uncle Ray to return to civilisation... for a mounting bracket.
Then there might be a few PMs coming your way as I sit in a tangle of cables and bits
There is a waterproofing product called LPV (LPV 1, 2 & 3 to be precise) - they used to demo it by spraying a 240v power drill with it, then using it under water. . I might try that. The LPV, not the underwater drilling

Theres no need to add to the belts you just need to cut the pips for the power steering and let the power steering pump do the work.

CFB - Thinking out loud and fishing for info - How much effort does it take to turn this lever? Could it be done by a small geared motor, making it electric or remote operated? How many different operating positions does the lever have? Can the lever be moved to free-spool whilst under tension or does it cleverly lock in this circumstance?
Thanks
You couldn't use a motor as the free spool lever is sometimes tricky to engage and may need the cable drum to be shunted back and forth a little to allow the cogs to engage. it is either fully engaged (ie motor drives the drum) or free so the drum rotates freely to let the winch line be pulled out quickly.2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto
Grrrrr, RWC got in the way and missed that one. Went for £140!! Bidding on one for tomorrow night now. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Lol, this thread is 8 years old now! The winch mount came from RLD Uncle Ray on this forum.

Hi D3Ben
As stated its an Uncle Ray hidden mount. I have one that I purchased about 6 months ago and never got round to putting it on the car. It's still in its box and I'd be willing to sell it at a discount if you are interested.
Send me a PM if you are.
Cheers.Disco3 project

I've tried to contact Ray and haven't had any luck with a response. I'm willing to buy if anyone will ship to the US.
