That looks excellent.
Did you get a second battery fitted to go with the winch or are you running with the original only?
I think there are enough of us interested in getting this done for someone (Ray?) to offer this as an 'item' with bits made and installed for those among us that don't feel confident about doing the building, fitting, wiring etc.
Anyone else interested in a package deal?

I'm thinking down the powered steering line as for cable I'd go steel and no need for an extra battery hoping to do some thing about it in the next few month's .

Just a question, but how do you get the rope/cable neatly back onto the winch drum, so you don't leave gaps and have damaged rope/cable when the rope gets pulled through to the bottom layer i.e. whats already wound onto the drum?
I think it was BCB who had a problem like this a while ago with undertensioned cable on the drum

This might be of interest for those that struggle to re-spool their winch cables evenly ....
Winch Lobster
Knight Scan has introduced an innovative new winch-cable rewind tool, the "Winch Lobster." This patented design temporarily clamps to your roller fairlead and makes the time-consuming job of respooling your winch faster and safer. Respooling correctly will extend the life of your cable and will be less likely to kink, fray, or break. Now you can put a straight, tight "Factory Wind" on your winch cable anytime, anywhere in a matter of minutes.

Fantastic
Now all I need to know is what bits to buy, where from, how much, and how to fit it all
Is there a group buy developing here???

Absolute bargain IMO and good service from the seller. You will need to cut down the free-spool lever as I said and fabricate a new flat handle to make it fit in the tight gap. Also, you need a steel hawse fairlead instead of the supplied rollers.
Oh and spooling the wire is easy as you get a good clear view of the drum through the gap in the bumper.2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

CFB - Thinking out loud and fishing for info - How much effort does it take to turn this lever? Could it be done by a small geared motor, making it electric or remote operated? How many different operating positions does the lever have? Can the lever be moved to free-spool whilst under tension or does it cleverly lock in this circumstance?
Thanks Dr. Ian Malcolm:

Transgenic tomato anyone?
Now bidding on one of these winches (only bidder at the moment and it finishes tomorrow)
Told you, this site will bankrupt me I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Not at that price it won't - Good luck!!
Hopefully everyone else can see that there's a continual re-listing & thus no need to bid against anyone!
Now, how do we buy the tray?
