Tried popping old shaft in again this morning but still no good... It moves in and out fine but doesn't seem to seat past a certain point 🤔 although splines are engaged as when I turn opposite wheel the shaft rotates etc... Can't get a pic today as its pouring it down with rain 🙈 what the hell have I managed to do wrong? Am I missing the obvious here? Why won't the OLD spline fit back on????

Hi, I know it’s an old post but.... I have a grumbling which I think is the front diff as I’ve already replaced 2 knackered front wheel bearings. Whilst trying to diagnose another problem I found that if I put the car in drive whilst on axle stands the near side front wheel doesn’t turn, give it a nudge and it does a full rotation and then stops. So my question... is the bearing that usually goes the near side drive shaft bearing? This may explain the rumbling and the friction stopping the near side front wheel rotating freely? I know there are other factors involved but I could just order the bearing listed in the hope it will solve my problem. Is it worth replacing both drive shaft bearings at the same time? Don’t think I have the confidence to do all the bearings and set backlash etc but the drive shaft bearings look like they’re in m6 capabilities and I have the tools already. Thanks for any help!
