You lucky fellow
I'll try linking 4 & 5 and have another go at the weekend.
Many thanks.

I have the same usb cable as you have and mine works fine, you say that you have used pin 4 and 5 but have you linked them together as some people do? It’s just a thought
I made my own cable up that has pin probes on and it works fine and I can use pin 4 or 5 and if necessary as I can link both together, you could also buy one of the leads that Martin the forum owner sells, they work well and they have pins 4 and 5 linked out might be worth a try
On a side note guys I couldn’t get to sleep this morning so I was outside with my two closest friends that were being chased up the road by a brass monkey, at 03:00hrs I pressed the lr button and low and behold the FBH fired up, so I was grinning like the cat that got the cream again, so now I will wait until tomorrow and try is again
I've had the OBDII lead apart and found that pin 5 is wired to Ground. That just adds to the confusion but I'll have another attempt at the weekend.

I can't really add anything to what I suggested as these things are all new to me, I wonder if it maybe the circuit board in the heater that has gone daft, I feel sure some of the others on here will have some ideas I hope all goes well at the weekend Cheers Skippy.

Well I had another big grin on my face today, out of the 3 times that I have pressed the button the heater has fired up on its first go (touch wood) and I hope it stays working like that I will try over the next few mornings to see how it performs.
The only thing that I have done is remove the intake silencer, I will put it back on at the weekend and see if it makes any difference. Cheers Skippy.

I don't know a great deal about these heaters but I am wondering if its a software issue as in the set up! are you setting it to park heater under the control tab? I know when I first started tinkering with my FBH I was getting all sorts of daft things on the screen, and it was because I didn't read the destructions to start with, also I seem to remember a little stop start hand having something to do with it as well.
I ended up having a note pad with me when I was testing mine as I have a very short term memory, I wrote everything down that I did and worked out were I was going wrong from there.
Up to now after getting the heater to run I think it has had about 10 ltrs of diesel through it as I have been firing it up every few hours and leaving it to run for 30 minutes and, touch wood it hasn't missed a beat
As one of the lads on here said to me don't give up, I nearly did and almost bought a new FBH and the day before I was going to buy one mine burst into life and I am still smiling about it
There maybe a member local to you that maybe willing to have a look at it for you! you never know another pair of eyes might see something you may have missed.
I hope you get it sorted Cheers Skippy.

I think this is the answer. Several long burns off and you burn off the crud that I suspect builds up on short burns. Did mine a couple of months ago and still working fine and car nice and cosy warm when chilly outside. But spring is coming 2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

I may give it one more try as I've an opticians appointment tomorrow so will wait until after that (not that I'm Mr Magoo )
I had been all through the tabs at the top of the screen without anything happening. All that was shown on screen was "WTT Initialisation" The Park Heating was greyed out, like most of the tabs.
Enough for my Sunday off.
Ah........ Under Device selection, which one is used for the Top V?

Think I set mine to parking heater once I set the test going something I did notice after the heater has been running you don't have to wait for the glow plug light as it don't come on as its nice and warm, it's worth it for that as well as not having to wait for the cab temp to rise Cheers Skippy.

Hi Joe,
A big thanks to you for suggesting connecting the two pins 4 & 5 (Ground) as it worked for me and I was able to complete a 40 minute burn earlier today.
You can see the result here:
http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic125898.html
I'll see if it carries on working, fingers crossed.
Cheers Phil.

Thought it was me that suggested linking pin 4 an 5 or did I miss something, no matter though The main thing is your heater is working now Mine is also still running well and its so nice not having to wait for the engine to warm up slowly in the morning Cheers Skippy.
