Some diesel burning heaters use the glow plug as the flame detector.
I don’t know much about these heaters so I will take your word on that

mine was like that until I pulled the fuse and set the software to park heater under the control tab

Yes mine is annoying me Martin I have the patience of a saint most of the time but struggling to see what I am doing under the bonnet have to be sat down all the time and this cold weather don’t do all my internal metal work much good Nothing wrong with the loom at all you man but I thought what the hell I’ll cobble one together just to prove a point before I tip my toys out, oh the sticker look nice that I got as well

don’t have anything like that, the only flammable stuff I have will be methanol or isopropyl alcohol

Don’t work in what sense? Software issue, com port or wiring? I don’t know much but if I can give some pointers at all I will if I can

"operating state glowing 71" so well
I have no problem connecting to the WTT software and when ever it fails to start that is the point it gets to
if you can connect first, try a "fan test" set at 255% for 30sec (it runs at 100%) and see if it runs quiet then go for a "glow plug test" I have done 100% for 30sec you may well get some smoke coming out of the inlet
then try to turn it on and see if it runs, up to you trying the electric cleaner/brake cleaner/easy start
or
leave it run for half an hour then turn it off see if that helps.
best of luck
I haven’t tried to test any of the components separately yet but next time that I feel up to spending an hour out side I might try that

Been playing with mine today - where do you squirt the brake cleaner?
Its running now after some multiple starts and resetting a few fault codes (linked to HVAC).
Just thinking a few squirts may help clean out inside.

Started FBH up with the Webasto timer, let it get to started and then sprayed in some brake cleaner in a few bursts. Lots of smoke and ot went up a gear..... Few more squirts and a few pops and seems to be fine.
Still have it that it will burn after car has been for a run for the full 30 mins but if done before a run out seems to start and be ok for few mins then shutdown. Think linked to battery as have had a few off messages on first start so suspect its on its way. Ironic that cold means low battery which means FBH cutting out!
Well I have had another day faffing about with the FBH, I even bought some break cleaner tried giving it the odd squirt at various points in the test, all it did was bubble and pop with the occasional bang and the odd hint of smoke, then promptly came up with the 02h error every time, so I am guessing that the glow pin is fudged
So I guess I will have to do a bit of digging around and see if there is anyone local weekend tinkerers willing to have a play with it as there is no way that I could do it these days, non of the local garages seem to know or want anything to do with it, sadly I wont touch the local dealer with a barge pole come hell or high water.
I wonder if there is anyone local to me on here willing to tackle it?Cheers Skippy.

Might not be a faulty glow pin/plug, like I said I decoked mine (as have others) to solve 02 "No Start".06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
Any issues with the site let me know!
I guess there is that side of it Martin but there is no way that I could do it without causing more possible damage sadly I will PM you as to why Cheers Skippy.

stick with it Skippy
I have been playing with mine for a number of weeks now but to put that in context the car only goes out once or twice a week although it does get a good run when it does.
I have not stripped anything down (yet) it did not want to start when the car asked it to and gave the same fault, but started nearly every time if I did a glowplug test first, its had 6 or 7 burns for at least half an hour (just leave it to do its own thing) start it half hour before we are going out in it.
have tried spraying the electrical cleaner and also easystart (more flammable) did not make much difference but then again must have helped a bit.
last 4 times I have started it by the remote I have helped it at the start by blowing air in the inlet just as the fuel pump starts to click (discostick method ) if I don't do that it fails to start......
but last time out when I parked up the fbh was hot so must have fired from the car asking..getting there slowly.
stick with it but fit it in with what you are doing anyway, I go out 20min before using the car and it only takes 5min to start the thing up ...... by next winter it should be working spot on
if not it may then get stripped .

Plus getting it to run is all good fun.
Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
I wondered what followed the “I have been playing with mine for a number of weeks now†I only go out in mine once or twice a week also, I go out to do a 4 to 5 mile run but always seem to 30 or so, it’s those magical mystery tours
I will have another go at testing the glow plug but it will more likely be at the weekend unless it starts to rain, I did a few glow plug tests to day but it still played at silly beggars, I really would like to get it to work as it would make things so much easier for me but that’s another story.
I have huffed and puffed into the air intake until I was blue in the face I recon I would have turned into the big bad wolf if I had carried on.
I will stick with it a little longer but I haven’t much hair left to pull out

Have you checked to see if the FBH is getting fuel?De-Tango

I assumed it was getting fuel as the exhaust does get quite hot as I have these funny little lines across my hand after accidental grabbing the exhaust tube, and I guess the tick tick noise that I can here is the fuel pump pulsing away?
I wish that I could take the FBH out and strip it but I can't if it was on a bench then no problem but I am unable to remove it myself.Cheers Skippy.

Does it tick at the FBH about 5 times and then stop and do nothing?
Mine did that and only solved it by clearing all faults from the ECUs across the whole car using SDD (or all other fault clearing diagnostic devices would do the same).
Then at leat it started - not always doing its full burn but it does not ignite!
Know the fuel pump for FBH is elsewhere but any idea where anyone?

I don't think it stopped, well it did a short while after the fbh shut down and the fan stopped, but I must admit I wasn't paying too much attention.
I am not sure were the fuel pump is but I suspect it maybe under the heater or the mounting frame from what I can hear, but I feel sure that one of the other lads will correct me if I am wrong and point you in the right direction Cheers Skippy.

FBH fuel pump is mounted under the chassis, in the area under the driver's seat.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Might be worth popping the fuel pipe off the FBH and pumping some through, could be partially blocked, mine was and a good blow through sorted it out.De-Tango
