More woe for Apple, look out.

Apple's newest iPhones have been hit by glitches after users complained that a new software update blocked their calls.
Earlier this week, a widely-circulated video showed the larger of the two new models was vulnerable to bending.
Apple said it would stop providing the software update, which it began distributing yesterday to fix several issues in last week's iOS 8 operating system for iPhones and iPads.
The decision to pull the update came after some people complained on Twitter and in Apple user chatrooms that the update, dubbed iOS 8.0.1, rendered their phones unable to make calls and caused problems with a feature that lets people unlock their phones with their fingerprint.
Apple announced that it was investigating the reports and would issue advice to users "as quickly as we can".
Users are still able to the upgrade older phones to last week's version of iOS 8, which Apple said has already been downloaded to nearly half of all iOS devices.
Apple later offered users a way to manually reverse the update provided earlier.
It involves connecting the phone to a Mac or Windows computer and downloading a file to restore the older software.

Upgraded my iPhone 4s to ios8 with the result that the Bluetooth link in my D3 stopped working (I installed the D4 module two years ago). It would connect eventually but then would lock into dial mode, using the last dialled number in the phone. Also, incoming calls could be "answered" using the steering column mounted phone button but the auto-switch from radio to phone didn't work so the caller was left wondering what was going on.

I've now downgraded the iOS to 7.1.2 and all is working perfectly again...

Not impressed by being used as a beta tester for Apple iOS releases.

A mate at work and me have both updated and seen quite a few problems, those noticed are:

    1. poor mobile signal reception - its one or two bars down on normal)
    2. Wi-Fi throughput seems low
    3. Wi-Fi is slow to wake up from unlock
    4. BT Music streaming (A2DP) does not work with parrot car kit (not tried on D4)
    5. BT calls (HFP) does not work with parrot car kit
    6. BT Calls (HFP) intermittent with D4 hands free
    7. very slow to unlock from PIN screen

We are using an iPhone 5 and an iPhone 5s

Im thinking that I might stick with iOS 7.1.2 to maintain the speed of my now ageing iPhone 4s - far be it for me to suggest that ios8 is deliberately pushing the owners of older phone models to have to upgrade to an iPhone 6 however...

Wink

It would be clever if apple were that smart... but the iPhone 6 with 8.0.2 still has problems too - looks like more a case of poorly written and rushed software?

A lot of people at apple thought Steve Jobs was difficult and even a bully, but my god he certainly knew how to pull engineers together. They're missing his vision now!

Anyone reading this on Safari 7.1? Notice how it's getting harder to use on every release?
