I know the bin guys have a job to do, but in most of those pics, the bin truck looks like its in the middle of the street, effectively blocking the whole road. Our guys do this here, which is a complete pain, as no one can get past until they've done the whole road. Their attitude is one of "we're working, you can wait", whereas some consideration by the bin truck driver wouldn't go amiss.

It doesn't excuse the stupid driving displayed there, but I can understand some of it.

They are placed in that manner to help protect the workforce Thumbs Up

In Nice and I'm guess some other French towns and cities they collect the bins every night....when there is little traffic. Maybe they should do that more commonly over here Very Happy

I agree Al, when they are down my road they still choose to wait in the middle of the road rather than pull into the kerb where there is plenty of space. Evil or Very Mad

Surely the manner of their job means they have to pay more attention when walking across the road with bins so the truck pulling into an appropriate gap so as to let vehicles pass shouldn't be a problem Rolling Eyes

It's easy to think that they are just doing their own thing but the safe systems of work are more detailed and prescribed than you might think ....what may seem safe to you may not be in practice...it's their call ...it's your rubbish. I'm sure you could get all your neighbours to write in and they could strike your road off the collection list Whistle

Ironic really, health and safety rules mean that annoyed drivers end up endangering the workers. Whereas if common sense and courtesy was allowed to prevail they'd actually be safer!

Yes its our rubbish that we pay to be collected.
Ive even seen them on numerous times drop rubbish in the road only to leave it laying there and drive over it with their truck Evil or Very Mad
I suppose it's too dangerous to get a shovel out and pick it up like in the good old days Rolling Eyes

That does not happen in my area.

Then again, the bin men do not deliberately block the road.

I wonder if these 2 points are linked?

The video could equally be billed as 'bin men illegally block road and concerned motorists have to resort to desperate measures'.

How are they illegally blocking the road Confused

It's almost incredulous that people here are supporting people driving on the pavement ...then again it sounds as though its something the said people would do Whistle

Of equal concern is the nonchalant attitude of the bin men......clearly almost being run over while on the pavement is a regular occurrence Shocked

Bin guys down our way block the high street and can take 30 minutes o travel down it. They will not move for anyone, I have been in the fire engine with lights and bells going but they will not move. They need to think about their actions some times.
