Any Reviews or Reports of Sunnitrac or Nexen tyres?

Sunnitrac or Nexen are listing at around £100 a corner fitted which is a pretty big saving on Premium Brands.

Just would like to know if any owners out there have any experience of these or know of any reviews that exist.

FYI would be to fit a Disco on 19" Wheels.

Right here Laughing

I'd never fit budget brand tyres to any vehicle let alone one weighing close to 3T. It's false economy as they'll not last as long, but most importantly braking distances will be increased. Google premium v budget tyres and you'll find loads of info.

Shop around and you'll be able to find much better premium and mid range brands for not much more cost.

Have a look here:

Considering you can get cooper, toyo, hankook and general tyres for less than £130 a corner I wouldn't fit anything from the proper budget tyre range to mine, no.

I would never consider fitting these cheap tyres.

You should check with your insurers if you fir other than OEM tyres, and you may well find that they won't agree to this type of tyre.

Please don't go down this route.

You will probably find that they are either hard as nails, or soft as spaghetti.

I tend to only fit decent tyres now (I was a student once), but I know from experience that pence per mile the premium brands tend to do better.

Not to mention - depending on what you go for - quieter, better braking, better performance in the wet, better grip charecteristics for cornering.

In answer to the question you asked, I've never tried them on the disco, don't know anybody that has.

They'd never uphold refusing to payout because you don't have Michelin/ Goodyear/ Pirelli tyres on your vehicle IMO.

Size or speed rating perhaps, but brand?

Agreed, it can be any brand or type as long as it complies with the spec. What if the car was made in Japan and that type of tyre wasn't available in UK? Happened to me with Yokos, had to change on first set wearing out. Besides, D3s often came on Wranglers, the only set I had on a D3 got ditched early as they were woeful to drive, changed to ATRs which comply with the spec.

Ran 275/45x20 Nexen Roadian HPs for a very short while on first D3, no thanks, very poor road holding and ride quality. Wont go there again.

A few peeps have tried Iota (or is it Idiota) tyres & report the handling as woeful. Good top & mid level tyres out there. Whilst cheapest is best might work in some areas, IMHO tyres isn't one of them. Thumbs Up

When I went to look at a D3 for sale at a Ford Dealer all those years ago the salesman literally had a stiffy he was so excited that they'd fitted a brand new set of Nexen Tyres "at nearly £1000 for the set" apparently

Iota's are Censored
Avoid at all costs

Sunnitrac, usually fitted to 20"+ wheels, as they are hugely cheaper than premium tyres of the same size.

Nexen, they make a good winter tyre. Never used any of their "all-weather" tyres, so cannot comment
