I filled mine up full with BP ultimate & drove it until the range meter said 5 miles left.
I managed 535 miles over a mixture of a roads & motorway.
Dividing the 80 litres by 4.54 litres/gallon. This gave me 17.62 gallons, the 535 miles divided by the 17.62 gallons gives me 30.36mpg.
This was pre re-map, so next week I will do it again now I have had my re-map tweek & see what the difference is.d4 HSE in Corris Grey with Black options pack

I've just filled mine today after a run out to Northampton and Leighton Buzzard last weekend, some short stuff then a trip to Liverpool and back today. 423 and a true 25.94mpg.
And that was cruising at an indicated 70 on the motorways, not much booting.
How the you getting 30+ Jamie?Mark.

Yorkshireman n a tight than usual one at that.
On the motorways I sit at 60-65mph & I keep to the speed limit on the A roads & try not to use full throttle from junctions etc.
When we go to North Wales, near Criccieth, I can get there & back (272miles) on just over half a tank. That is A5, M6 toll & then A5 again.
What I will do on monday when I fill up for the week I will see how many litres the pump says from nearly empty, as even though they say it is an 80 litre tank, I know I have put more than that in before.
I will see how next week goes & report back!d4 HSE in Corris Grey with Black options pack

Hi,
when the EGR valves are blanked, will this improve fuel consumption or will it get worse. that is not clear to me, some say there is an improvement and some say it is getting worse
I blanked them off and I'm running now 23 mpg instead of 30 mpg. Of course now it is winter, I have winter tires and also do a lot short distances now.
But in my opinion, when you drive on highway (more than 2000 rpm), blanking the EGR valves should not effect fuel consumption, or am I mistaken?

Faults with Disco 3 Advice Please
I bought a D3 a year ago from a main dealer its reg 2005 and had 31k miles, it had never towed no tow bar and I was told 1 owner from new who had just bought a new D4 from the dealership, really pleased with the car. I use it to tow a horsebox and for general running about. After having it for 6mths it needed a new clutch I can't remember what else it was something to do with losing power and the gearbox this was covered on the warranty after a bit of an argument.
At Xmas I had an accident in it snowy icy conditions old van came round a bend lost control and hit me at speed right off side that insurance claim is underway my car has been in the garage since 23rd Dec but I have been lent a new Freelander so not carless. I had a call 10 days ago from the bodyshop to say car being sent to Landrover dealership for realignment checks etc, then got a call saying EGR valve needed replacing (sorry I don't know what any of this means) said insurance wouldn't pay for that as it was a common fault in LR cost approx £450. After an argument with the insurance company they agreed to pay as the dealership couldn't rule out the impact causing this. Next call to say EGR valve fitted but new warning light this time turbo is seized which will cost £1900+vat! Garage going back to the ins co with same argument none of this was showing to be an issue prior to my accident, don't know if I'll win this one or not hope so or I really do have a problem.
I'm now thinking should I get rid of the car when I get it back having replaced these expensive items do I have a car that hopefully has had the major stuff done or is there more to come? Has the impact given me a problem vehicle or are these all known problems dealer tells me that the turbo can be a problem in these cars too, how many more problems do these cars have I can't afford to risk huge great bills like this coming thick and fast. I'd be grateful for anyones advice. Many Thanks

EGRs & turbo nothing to do with your bump, they are standard things that go wrong. You're lucky on the EGRs side but would doubt your luck would hold with the turbo. Let me guess, no aftermarket warranty?

The warranty ran out last week! Have to wait if I can get it through the insurance but is there any other major things to go wrong, considering getting rid and going for something with a long warranty to keep my future costs lower. Pity cos I really like this car!

Have you done this yet Jamie?
Mine only did 25mpg last week in France. Was expecting more to be honest given the type of driving.
And driving at 70 or 80 didn't make more than about 0.5mpg difference.Mark.

Ok so I don't normally fret about economy but when it now costs £100 plus to fill up I thought I would give it a go squeezing as many miles as possible from the pricey fossil juice.
Just done a trip from West Yorkshire to Mansfield return, 154 miles. mainly motorway but also some A roads and urban stuff. I didn't exceed 60 mph and was vary sparing with the right foot. I was quite pleased with 32 mpg (understanding the optimistic story told by the computer of course) I still reckon that must be abound the 30 mpg area.

I manged to get round to seeing how many miles I can get out of a full tank.
I managed 472.8, so 473, the range meter said 8 miles left, so I thought I had better not risk it going any lower.
So, given that the tank is 80 litres, which equats to 17.62 gallons.
I reckon that 773 divided by 17.62gallons is 26.8mpg. (computer said 27.2mpg)
This is a lot less than I got before, but I did upload a new map to my ecu half way through the test and kept on putting my foot down, so really I could have achieved a lot better mpg.
Oh and the wife drove it for one day, so heater will have been on full, the heated seat will hve been on.
May do it again, if I do, I will post results.d4 HSE in Corris Grey with Black options pack

Just to point out that is without a re-map but with a fast road Alisport intercooler and with EGRs blanked
