Probably right but the speedo and independent speed readout on the GPS said same thing - maybe it was downhill?

....Or you work with JE and / or had the 'stage 2' tune which removes the speed limit - not part of the offer
BTW - what speed rating are the tyres you're running?
Well I'm ok with my MPG, good mix of motorways, bit of off-road. Bit of pulling a horse box and lots of A and B roads returns as much as the pic and an all time low of 29.8 mpg

Normal tyre pressure (little tread with 27,000 miles of wear) one person, no wind, but hot so air con working a bit harder?
My post was to satify curiosity, if MPG was the be-all and end-all, none of us would be in disco3's, however I was expecting a bit more to be honest.

I've got less than 400 miles on the clock so you could say the engine is still a bit tight but I'm getting around 30Mpg at present. I can increase it by not using cruise control but I'm a lazy sod!!
When it's run in a bit more I will probably get less but hey! If I want great economy I get on my motorbike!

30 mpg or there abouts
i will do an actual litres/ tripmeter calculation when i have done 2 complete tankfulls , but at the moment i.ve just done 3000 klms from new , was getting 25/26 mpg untill an injector leak was diagnosed at 1880 klms, have since had new injector fitted and remap by dealer. last trip was 500/600 klms over mix of A.B ROADS AND MOTORWAYS with about 100 klms of traffic, and city driving, and the comp sez i,m now getting 30.6 mpg.will update shortlyThe man who admits his mistake... he is a wise man.The man who admits his mistake ... even when he is right... he is a married man.

have done a calculation , the trip meter tells me i was getting 30.4 MPH , but dividing the trip meter 743 kms by the 79 ltrs it took to fill the tank = 9.405 kms per ltr = 42.755 kms per gallon(4.546 ltrs per gallon) divide 42.755 kms by 1.609 to convert to miles = 26.57 MPG. Conclusion.... Tripmeter tells porkies i will do another calculation on next tank to doublecheck. has the diametre of the wheels a bearing on how the tripmeter calculates the distance travelled ?
ready reckoner: 1 gallon imp = 4.546 ltrs , 1 mile = 1.609 kms ,The man who admits his mistake... he is a wise man.The man who admits his mistake ... even when he is right... he is a married man.

fuel consumption
strange to relate ... have done another calc of last tank fill . tripmeter 670 klms and it took 73 ltrs to fill calculation as before 9.178 kms per litre = 41.72 per gallon = 25.93 mpg.but this was all city /b road driving , no long distance run at all .the trip meter is telling me 25.4 mpg it would seem the tripmeter works better at stop start type trips than on a long sustained run anybody know if the size of the wheels make a differance to the trip meters calculations The man who admits his mistake... he is a wise man.The man who admits his mistake ... even when he is right... he is a married man.

Have about 160k kms on my D3 tdv6, manual box, kmpg (mpg) was dire, all motorway driving at around 60 miles/hr was returning 24 - 27 mpg, far from expected performance, complained bitterly to dealer who took it in and changed the injectors, improvements not to 32 - 34, all with some fuel additive 36 - 38 has been achieved

Mine is an Auto, regularly get 32 to 34 MPG with no modifications. I do tend to drive no more than 60mph ( its cos I am a Artic driver - not used to speed ), but I also use the switchable box alot, tend to change upto 5th or 6th way before the auto would....

Just completed a round journey of 220 miles, mixed A road / motorway 1/3--2/3 split. achieved average of 28 mpg. and ave journey speed of 52 mph, Crawled along M6 north of Manchester to Blackpool turn off. No apparent reason for the bumper to bumper. HSE auto, 70k miles . I don't dawdle but dont thrash it either. I must assume that if you did 90 mph or more, which obviously non of us do , then consumption would suffer. It would be useful if display could show current mpg as well as average.
