hi guys, i am a person who normally tells it how it is !! been useing it for 1 week now, and in my eyes no diff at all!! heres hopeing
I love your words "in my eyes" but you mat get a better understanding with your ears, your engine should be a little quieter. But at the end of the day "in my eyes" any additional lubrication, especially for the HPFP etc can only help.

I've been using 2 stroke oil for years in my Diesels. Started using it on my 200tdi disco, then my 300tdi, then my 4 td5's and now my D3. Have always found the engines run a lot quieter. I never replaced any of the fuel pumps, either IP or Electric in tank pumps. ( I've just jinxed myself now). I run a Series3 with a 200tdi also and this runs on a veg oil and 2 stroke mix without fault too. With such poor fuel lubrication I wouldn't run my diesels without it.
Whilst studying for my "Masters" in D3 allthingsjiggerypokereythatstealersshouldknowbutDONT thanks to the knowledgeable and friendly fellows on here (masochists? being a D3 owner, we have to be, no??) I have been following the 2-stroke advice with interest.
Just having put my D3 back on the road and about to go down this route, I noticed KP posting a link to Comma 2-stroke on fleabay, which I think has now ended.
I've just found Amazon with this...

I am seriously hesitating about posting this as it's so lame!!!
Anyway, I decided to try the 2 stroke trick and bought some Actevo. So, I opened the fuel cap and started to squirt it in - only to find it was running straight out again, all down the side of the car. Of course, the trap-door thingy in the filler pipe was closed. DOH. However, I thought it would just be a case of pushing the bottle nozzle harder but this didn't work and all I did was crease the bottle spout.
So, the lame bit is, how to you get the oil in!!!

The trap-door thingy should not be closed.
Latch the trap-door back into its normal 'open' position with the daft yellow plastic tool in accordance with the handbook.

After reading this thread and another I am still non the wiser when it comes to which 2so is ok to use...
Mineral or semi synthetic?
I understand the rest of the stuff but which out of the above two is better for the engine?Geoff: EGR's blanked, gearbox flushed, allisport hoses, BAS Remap, 3 flash indicator, D4 bluetooth, remote FBH
Uncle Ray: Spare wheel protector
Flack: Reverse camera
Allisport de-cat pipe, D4 19" alloys, D4 piano black steering wheel, piano black interior, colour coded trim, cubby fridge, full length roof rails

So I looked for the yellow indicator in the filler pipe but nothing there. All I could see was a metal flap. I thought that LR may have changed to metal so I went to look for the yellow key. On my previous Discos, it was in the glove box. When I looked in the glove box, there was no yellow key, but there was a plastic funnel! The end looked like a diesel pump so I pushed it in the filler pipe. Hey presto, the flap opened and I was able to pour the oil in. Obviously a new design.
Only trouble is having to carry around a funnel that has oil in it. A bit messy!! Still, objective achieved, now for the results D4 HSE MY2015

Mineral
Jaso FC rated are the best apparently.
I have been using this for 40,000km, cleaned my MAP sensor just after I started using it. A week ago I pulled the MAP and EGR butterfly housing/Y-pipe out and they were both quite badly fouled. I would've expected with a cleaner burn that there'd be slightly less EGR gunk in my intake. I'll be pulling the manifolds off and thoroughly cleaning them next.2008 RRS TDV6 - Chawton White/Black/Lined Oak - 20's, h/k, sunroof - 350K KM.

So, I decided to give this ago for my D4 MY2010. I wasn't really sure what to expect, however after 800 miles or so, I found that:-
1. Cold start ups are so much quieter
2. The engine seems to run smoother. I am sure this is more than a placebo effect as I tune into every little noise that the car makes
3. I had 'pinking' during any type of acceleration. This is now completely gone.
4. MPG (indicated) hovered at about 27mpg, now this is now up to 31mpg. Again, this is indicated on the dash only, no real life figures.
5. Seems to pull a bit better, but I suspect that this is more due to the fact that the engine sounds nicer and therefore I am bit more liberal with the right foot. Very hard to judge.
I will keep on using it and see what the longer term effects it has. So far, so good.D4 HSE all the way
