If so, why?

Carlube

Just wanted to say a big thank you, have had the car about 5 months and has been a constant 23.7mpg on the dash info.

Decided to add 500ml carlube to a tank full after reading on here and then again on a second tank full. Now reading 24.2mpg 1st time it's changed since owning the Disco. I can't say i'm driving any differently as SWMBO uses the car more than me so very happy Thumbs Up

Have not added any for the last few tank full's and it's still staying at 24.2, will be adding more in the future at every fill once i find a cheap source.

2 Stroke in diesel

Hi previously had a TD4 Freelander 1, I got this car at 105k and ran it for a further 50k with 2 stroke added to diesel. Wow what a difference, I monitored mpg fairly carefully - and the 2 stroke helped by around 2mpg. The car was much quieter and smoother to drive ....... no injector problems, pump problems or otherwise.

My only slight concern is with modern DPF diesels .... maybe you could shorten life by contaminating
I just dont know. Does anybody else have any constructive thoughts/experience on this.

What 2SO are people using these days? My old bottle has run out and Tesco don't seem to stock it anymore.

To help us it's best if you fill in your profile. Wink

You say 2010, is it a D3 or D4?

You want mineral really.

JASO FC is needed for D4s with a DPF, JASO FB will do for a D3. Thumbs Up

Hi thanks for the reply its 2010 2.7 TD D3, the turbo was sticking so ive wiggled the actuator and its cleared that but the EGRs are showing a fault so i want to run on 2S for a few tanks to hopefully clear them, any ideas if running 2S will eventually clear them ?? thanks

It could help but don't get your hopes up too much.

Your EGRs can be sorted though with a software patch and emulators. Thumbs Up

What you'll find is the EGR mechanism actually fails, well falls to bits, not the motor on the end but the bit that moves inside and it then cant move... the ecu looks for full movement of the motor, pre 07 shouldnt show eml light, post 07 will, I've just plugged a spare egr motor in on the one that's failed on mine as the valves are already blanked, it just stops the eml coming on Thumbs Up
