OK I thought id give the whole 2 stroke thing a go.
I have filled the D3 to the brim and bought the Carlube 2 stroke oil XL.
It says its low ash API TC JASO FB.
Is this ok and how much should I put in?
Thanks
Dave

Ideally you should put it in then fill up as it washes it around the tank and it mixes with fuel ?
Its about 350Ml to a tank i think ? altho i add a litre to a tank full, Only dead fish go with the Flow !

If its the first time then 500ml for a full tank, after regular use you can reduce to getting 3 tankfuls out of a 1 litre bottle

I find it easiest to use 250ml of 2SO to 50L of diesel. Easy because the Castrol container has measured marks every 250ml.
I'm running my new motor in on a diet of Shell Nitro+, or whatever they call it now and the above mix of 2SO. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Out of curiosity, is the addition of 2ST considered to be better than Redex treatment or is it much of a muchness?

I've been using Castrol 2SO (FC) since reading about it on here back in December when I first got my D3 and after the second day of ownership one of the egr's was sticking causing lack of power below 2000rpm...
After a 500ml dose of 2SO it went away and has never came back when using 2SO in the fuel (250ml) until I filled up the other week and didn't have the 2SO with me and then forgot to add it. 2 days later lack of power and EML light back on, I managed to cope for a week struggling to reverse off the drive way until I could read the codes... and it was the egr valve again so I added 2SO back in the mix and over the following couple of days it cleared up and has been good ever since
So it must be doing something right... and as for the EGR valves it's my intention to get a remap with egr delete and blank them off

That's definitely interesting ?
Both mine have failed whilst using 2SO, and remained propped open so I didn't get the loss of power ?
After getting mine back last week I was sat down in the dealer whilst the service guy explained exactly what it was that my bill broke down to and on there was a fuel treatment ? Which I enquired about ?
After the explanation I got home and googled it
Apparently there are things living in the fuel tank ?
Tiny microbes that are black and gunky that clog up the fuel lines and filter and starve the injectors and do some damage ?
Baring in mind I only get to open up the glove box and cubby box without confusing myself ? Does this sound like something that is going on ? Mikey ? Have you seen this gunk ? That lives in these dark recesses ?
I've never looked in the tank ? But I know some of you have ? Only dead fish go with the Flow !
