if you cant hold on dont let go , it ill come in handy for something even if you never use it.

Hopefully enough for an easeout to get hold of it Stu
Failing that ther are some neat right angle drills about, or a right angled die grinder on low air pressure to use as a drill, pretty sure the one I have would fit in where a 3/8 ratchet with swinging room would.
I would say that there is enough room to get a 90" windy in there with a mirror and have a go at drilling the bolt for an easyout extractor, the bolt tightens on the tensioner to hold it so if its snapped you might be able to turn the bolt out anyway. Its a big task to remove engine or body just for this as the engine cant be damaged as its just for the Hp pump..
I would go the possible drill out and easyout route first..

Hi Stew,
Just put your digital camera down there and take some pictures they will turn out do not need to see screen.
Buy some left hand cobolt drills to drill out with, a lot of times the broken bolt will screw out while drilling.

Most likely belt tensioned wrong when it was replaced, there were several failure after the Hp pump recalls were done ( usually bearing failure due to incorect belt tension) so could be what caused yours to fail. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

You can't adjust the belt tension of the HPFP belt. It is spring loaded. Tighten the bolt and pull the pin...My D3 Build Thread

What about a touch of chemical metal and bond a bolt or nut to the stud allow to cure and then try to ease it out.
