Finaly given up on unnamed local dealer - its now booked into Shukers in Ludlow. They were really helpful.

Booked in for the 4th January

Also contacted Customer Relationship Centre - extremly helpful again, only on closer inspection the disk is cracked but not worn out. something strange there, The Park shoes on one side had no material left on them at all completley down to the metal, so I think there was a fault on the brakes.

My local dealer deprived me of £530 for the pleasure, saying not covered under waranty, Land Rover said if there was a fault that caused it they would be. Shukers are going to look at the parts.

I will let you know the outcome.

Ask LRCS to refund all (or part) of your payment for the disks

Hi Duncan,

I know you don't want to, but can you name & shame the stealer so we don't get caught with them again?

cheers

There are a number of independant LR dealers that are a lot cheaper - the independant near me has quoted only £177 for my next D3 service. There are no warranty implications either.

The price difference is staggering - can pay for a nice weekend break in hotel and more, if you need to travel.

Just had my parking brake replaced under warranty at a main dealer - but they will not see the work when it comes to brake and pads time!

At least Dick Turpin had the decency to carry a gun when he robbed people!

The premium you pay to go to a GOOD main dealer is worth every penny when it comes to getting niggling warranty work done or updated parts fitted at no cost.

I will always go to my dealer even out of warranty. They recently replaced parts on our Freelander as LR had upgraded them... and as they [LR] had I was not charged a penny. Would have cost me a couple hundred anywhere else and any other main dealer that I was not a regular at, would not have done this.

Also you seem to get a good dealer at vehicle renewal time too Smile

I'll be doing the same after I've had the 3 year service DSL - until then I have nothing to pay as I bought a package deal from my dealer at the first service for approx £800 that covers all 3 services, loan cars, insurance, mot and 20% discount. Smile

Just had a look at the paperwork, I think it might be specific to my LR dealer but I'll check for you. I know that they have done this deal for over 2 years now as I was going to take it out for my first D3 that was replaced - was a bit more expensive the year before though.

Simons quote "The premium you pay to go to a GOOD main dealer is worth every penny when it comes to getting niggling warranty work done or updated parts fitted at no cost"

I think I would agree with Simon, I am hoping that I have now found a good dealer, You should also remember you have a £40k car and by scimping a few hundred quid, means that you will not be able to PX at a LR dealer, and privately lot of people won't touch it as they insist on a full LR service history.

I would totally agree on older Discos or Defenders go out side the dealer network, but the electronics and software is so complex on Disco 3's there is only really one place to get it serviced.

Thats just my opinion for whats its worth
