Hi Bodsy,

Belt was changed about a year ago with around the 95K on the clock. Failed on Sunday evening with 114K on the clock.

PS. Apologies to anyone that I held up on the A55 in North Wales who was trying to get to Holyhead for a boat on Sunday evening while I pushed it off the road.

I'm not honestly sure, I'll need to dig out the service history to confirm.

In some respects it would be a little bit more worrying for the wider Landie owner group if they did change it and it failed.

Flack can you give us an update on your cambelt changes to present, any crack etc and the year roughly of vehicles. Got a 57 plate and am pondering weather to change oil pump for peace of mind, thanks in advance

Well its a bit of a lottery, it can happen at anytime with a MY07/8 and some 09 cars, we have even seen some MY06 cars have a failed casing.
Its a no brainer just change it, If I do the belts on any of thses year cars then I will not do the job without a new Oil pump casing being fitted.
I have done a few hundred belts & casings now and most owners are aware of the problem before they ask me to do the belts.

Some have even had a new Oil pump casing fitted, when the car already has the new style casing fitted as this helps the oil pressure anyway.

My garage has 2 d3 07 in at the min with broken oil pumps. Both around 100k and had belts but no oil pump 1 of the disco is a relitive easy fix. Other is beyond repair.

newbie disco 3 owner

Hi ladies and gents.
I'm buying a disco 3 this week and have been reading up on common faults etc. Now i know with all cars you will always have issues and the list of faults can be fairly long. I have taken everything on board but one thing i cant seem to find definite answers on is the oil pump issue, it comes across it is mainly the 07/08 models that have the problems, so wanted to find out if it also includes the 05 models as that is what i'm buying.
its a 2005 automatic 2,7 se service history showed it had the belts done at 130k car but no mention of the oil pump being replaced.
all information would be gratefully received.

An 05 will only be 2 years off a second belt change, so it may be worth bringing it forward. I'm going to do my 06 next year (a good 2 years early) if it lasts that long Rolling Eyes
