Obvious question but now that the 3.0 lumps have been out there for a while, how are their MAP sensors looking?

Just done mine, 127,000 on the clock. Full EGR removal yesterday and thought I would give it a go.. Also re out in the BAS map so it can re calibrate with the clean sensors.
Was getting 22 mpg in town and 24 on a run.. Will see if it makes a difference 2 D3 ‘s’ ambulance conversions and 2 D3 ‘SE’ for home (His and Hers)

On my D4 2010 with 118.000 Km I got "limited performance" message on the dash.
The connection wit an OBDII unit has detected a failure on the sensor of intake pression, so I have done the cleaning.
Found it really dirty, cleaned with WD40 and cotton-fioc.
After a first reset all seems ok but, unfortunately, the ECU detect some malfunctions after random period of time, seems It is too late for cleaning only, I need to replace the sensor.
Does somebody know the part/no for the 3.0 TDV6 211 CV engine?marcap599

Hi marcap599
Before I get to the topic, you live in a beautiful area!! I had been there 2001, 2002, 2003 when we visited the 1000 Miglia in May with our 1955 Mercedes SL. We used to stay in Sirmione
Now to the topic on hand.
MAF and MAP sensor may only be cleaned with something like Würth brake cleaner spray. To do this, remove the misbehaving part and spray it from a distance of about 15-20cm to clean it externally and also spray into the orifice.
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES WHATSOVER PROBE INTO THE HOLE TO CLEAN!!!!
This would destroy the sensor, as has happened in your case.
To clean the MAF sensor, remove and spray it from both sides onto the hot wire to remove accumulated grime. This will return it to service. MAF sensors have a useful life of 90'000km - 140'000km depending on operating circumstances.
A proven way to prevent this buildup of gunk into the intake system is to add 5ml of JASO-FC compliant 2-stroke oil per 1 litre of diesel. This will prevent carbon build up. It will also assist in keeping the EGR system clean. Here in SA we remove the CAT and blank the EGR's and then add a remap to really make these beasts fly.
Here in SA we use a locally produced product "Poly-TFE" which we add to the engine oil once. This seems to cure the tendency of those engines to through bearings and snap cranks.
The well known indies all use it in their workshops for customers cars.
To get some more insights into all this you can contact BABEN on this forum. I have worked closely with him and assisted him in getting the D3's and D4's "behaving" EX AFRICA SEMPER ALIQUID NOVI

Your sensor did not work before cleaning because it was completely blocked. It did not work after because you damaged it?“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

The sensor were working with trouble before and after cleaning, exactly in the same way.
Monitoring it with the OBD2 I can see that is working and miss the signal for a fraction of second, may be also a connection problem, but not found it. All start after servicing the car in LR official dealer.
But is not the question, does anybody kindly have the part no?marcap599

Finally found the problem, the plug have some oxidation inside, deeply cleaned and now all is ok.
Just for information, the part number for D4 3.0 TDV6 is LR019130 .
Next step is to try the cleaning of the intake, i suppose that it is full of waste like the sensor.
Many thanks to the EGR !marcap599

Glad I checked mine. 08 MY with 81000 miles. EGR's blanked at 75000 after failure. The hole was well and truly blocked.
Cleaned it with electrical contact spray until the hole was clear. I've run it 2 days since cleaning, and can say that my throttle response at low speed is greatly improved, and when setting off from stationary.Man with no D3 anymore, but cant leave the forum....how sad.

Pulled the sensor out while at work, photos not taken as gunky like all the other pics. Cleaned it with electrical contact cleaner that was conveniently available, lol. Under a lit magnifier I VERY carefully cleaned out the hole with a piece of soft thin solder, took a while, then a final clean out and tap on paper until the fluid came out of the hole clear.
Better low down throttle response. Hoping to see better economy too, as at the moment I've getting about 18MPG in medium city traffic.Regards, Will Church
