Cleaned mine last Wednesday before setting off on 450 mile motorway round trip with the Tintent on the back. Was stunned to find it pulled 6th gear (manual) easily with the van on the back, in fact I had to keep conciously backing off the throttle as the car kept running up to 65 and beyond. Trip computer has shown around 25mpg which is better than normal. We did leave the dog at home, but I doubt he accounts for the difference....

37,000 miles. EGRs replaced at 22,000 & 29,000 miles.
Have placed the above link to a photo, cos I don't know how to embed it in this message

Agree! Great forum.
Just got back from a half-hour drive, assuming the trip computer is equally wrong before and after, showed almost a 4 mpg increase over what I'd usually get…we'll see how that levels out over the week.
And, unscientifically, the engine feels smoother, pick-up seems a bit better and it seems to hold in gear for longer.
All good!

420 miles, 9 mpg improvement (car display)
(I have changed my driving style too to a more "economical" one, but no way it's that fact alone!)

Have been driving a bit, only for short periods, but it 'feels' more agile, picks up better and a bit faster (have a BAS remap). Just imagination..?
Cannot say about improved MPG before driving a longer period but keep my fingers crossed.www.skienklinikk.no

Morning,
my 07 Disco had its 105k service last week so when i got home on saturday i cleaned the sensor. both my EGR's were replaced twice but dont ever think the MAP sensor was cleaned. the nop of the nozzle was free from obstructing gunk but the sides were very black and gunky. used kitchen towel and wet cotton buds to clean it.

the kitchen towel and cotton buds after:

filled up afterwards on saturday and as a rule i normally get 240 odd km's from first 1/4 of a tank, nothing changed on sunday when i did a 300km drive regarding consumption and/or indeed pick-up/power,

Some great information here.
So this is another job for me to tackle one evening this week. Would be interesting to see what my 06 with 86k on the clock is like.
Problem is I have no idea about the EGR's. I have searched the site and can find no information on what you do to replace them, only to buy a kit from BAS. Many different questions about EGR's on the forum, but guess the replacement/blanking thread is hidden somewhere.
Has this helped with the delay when putting your foot down from a stand still? Or in my absence over the last couple of years have you technical bods found a different solution to this problem, which Land Rover still denies?
Best regards
Chris

I wonder if the lack of noticeable driveability and that some have not seen an increase in consumption is in some part down to the MAP sensor being faulty ?
Just a thought ?
As the Mrs drove mine a bit over the Bank Holiday and asked if i'd had something done to the car
even she noticed !

My car's get up & go is back after cleaning but changing the MAP sensor anyway. In the grand scheme of things it's small potatoes compared with the small fortune spent on trying to fix these problems.
Unfortunately SWMBO hasn't noticed the change as she's refusing to drive it until we're sure it's shutting down habit is properly fixed.

I think that as long as the opening isn't blocked it functions. So all the gunk of the world can be on it, as long as it can sense the pressure correctly... What I wonder about : how accurate are these devices. I have seen temperature sensors for [domestic] heatpumps which were 2K off the proper reading and also died within a few years... So what if the sensor reads eg 30psi [don't have a clue what this value should be..], but actual pressure is 35psi... So you have an extra lean mixture ?? The other way around : measures 35psi but factual value is 30psi.. To rich mixture and high concumption ?!! Who can say anything sensible about this ? Which make are these things and what are their manufacturing tolerances???

Agreed were it not the case in reality, which I don't understand. Pre cleaning my car was a complete dog. Took it for a spin then cleaned it and took it out immediately after and it was a completely different car. Pre clean mpg dire, post clean it was back to normal. I don't understand why as the hole was not blocked, I shouldn't have seen a difference. Could it be the gunk around the sensor disturbs the air flow to affect the reading, don't know but deffo car back to normal. Only question is why didn't I think of the MAP back in October? Mind you with a goosed turbo I wouldn't have seen the change.
Now I've got this fixed the alternator is now playing up!
