nigelc, no, I won't be putting the D4 down as a business asset - not an option that is open to me. I will be in the happy position of having some spare cash come September and I've had enough of driving our 8 year old Korean MPV and SWMBO and I reckon we are due some luxury.
Thanks to all who have had input on the spec changes for 2012 - very helpful to me when I come to decide......maybe next week once I meet with the dealer.

When the D4 came out I drove both the new FFRR (the one with the split video screen) and a D4 on the same day. It was noticeable (to me at least) that the audio quality of the D4 Logic 7 system was much better than that in the FFRR: the FFRR system sounded decidedly woolly in comparison, which is unusual given the extra dosh
I understand that the standard FFRR doesn't come with the Logic 7 system - it's an extra, which might explain your experience

It does. All FFRRs have Logic 7 but the optional 1200W Logic 7 HD system is £1200.
You could be right - I can't say for certain what was on that particular car although the demonstrators from that dealer are usually pretty highly specified. Anyway, bottom line is that I'm more than happy with the performance of the Logic 7 package on the current HSE!

Got that on my new set of wheels, weird thing is you do it once the car is warmed up (not weird) but the engine is running. Have one of the dash shortcuts programmed with it so it's as easy as press one button before fuelling up.
Haven't actually looked under the bonnet yet.

They're not new colours. They're actually old colours brought back as new ones because of the paint problems in Japan.
Santorini has been replaced by Sumatra (Freelander metallic black around 06MY)
Stornaway has been replaced by Orkney (same Gray as Jags)
Baltic Blue replaced by boring Buckingham Blue
RE: 'New key design' - this is actually just a cheapened down plastic version of the current key which will be used on the Evoque.

It actually looks quite smart TBH....it's not quite as cheap looking as described with a third of it being bright metal

From 12MY, a smaller and more premium design compact Smart Key will be introduced featuring the Land Rover oval and a bright metal trim edge design. The key has a smooth pebble like design
I thought it looked quite plasticky in photos I've seen. Wonder why they're keeping the current design on some Range Rover derivatives.

MY2012 Disco 4 spec news
My dealer has now confirmed details of the new model. Prices have crept up by about £1200, but the spec is improved, with the GS (which I want) getting the 8 sp auto box, drive select, paddle shift, 255bhp, 4.2" colour audio display, DAB and USB connection. All worthwhile, especially the new auto box, which apparently reduces emissions and the 0-60 time is down by 0.3 seconds!
Can't wait until September...
Rob

Well that seems to give away most if the "embargoed" information!!!!!!!!
Makes a complete sham of the holding back data until the 11th July
Looks very good as long as the HSE has all this - or at least some of it!

The embargo is pretty dumb IMHO. You can't classify specs as secret until July yet have cars ordered in June be subject to the new model year. How can customers (you know, the people who fund the £1bn profit) order cars without this information and how can dealers sell cars?
It would seem sensible to release the info at the point new cars can be ordered with that spec to me.
Wonder if this is to protect dealers with massive stocks of previous model year cars?
